Hello everyone.

First, might I say it's a pleasure to be here and to have a voice again. I genuimely don't want to abuse this or be seen as abusing it, especially after the current dire state of my relationship with the BBC. (not just in premod but having been pitched further into the Outer Darkness, in terms of a "restricted account" - ie, barred, in circumstances I think are deeply suspicious and which I am actively challengnig,)

I have written an account of how I got to this all-time low, as so much about it does not seem to add up and it chimes uncomfortably wiyh the experience of others as related on this thread and elsewhere.

The only trouble is - it's long. I have left a copy with John Wright for him to read, and perhaps if he has no issues with length or content I will post it here. Is it possible to post a link to a version stored elsewhere, whivch might be an acceptable compromise?

But for now - glad to be back!

I hope this works - this is or should be a drect link to my livejournal account, where I have posted the article on being banned by the BBC.

It should appear as top article on the journal page. Read on if you like, but the rest of my scribbled stuff is mainly rubbish., about schooldays, Terry Pratchett pastiche, and so on..

Welcome Agpov. Your link works OK.

I read some of your story, all a bit painful and similar to what has happened to many folk here.

(Note: anyone wanting to know how to add links, images, smilies, quotes etc., there are some instructions (I think) in the 'Annoucements' section going back years.

There are buttons above the message section where you type, for img, url, font type/style/colour, and a good way to learn is to choose a good posting with quotes and links and images etc and click the quote button top-right of message and there you can see/work out how it's done, and you'll figure out what the buttons do.

There's Preview of course, and also Edit so you can correct your errors. You can do that quickly or much later (when you do it much later an edit message appears at the foot of the message).

Ag, I thought I was treated badly by the BBC mods but your story is appalling!

I'll say it again: something's bubbling at the Beeb that we don't yet know about. They're super-paranoid at the moment. Why?

John

Appreciate what you are saying about closing this board, but can understand why it has had so many recent postings.
Many of us especially recent members like myself, who have gone down the route of
a) Whoever is this rude person?
b)Why am I not allowed to criticise, complain or have any of his posts removed?
c) Why are my posts removed when I say anything that he does not agree with
d) Is there anything more sinister behind this, if not the mouthpiece of the BBC, are his postings being encouraged by them to voice their opinions

I read your account of your treatment at the hands of the BBC Moderators with interest, AgProv. It leaves a nasty taste, but sounds fairly typical of what has happened to a number of us, although it may be more extreme in degree.

Sad to hear of your disappointment at being excluded from h2g2, but in the short time I have been here, I have found this a much friendlier place than the BBC Radio 2 Message Boards!

The BBC didn't like freedom of speech. They can all make excuses to why these Message boards" are closing. I don't condem those who slag people off and make it personal, but I do object to discussions being removed for know reason. There needs to be a committee set up across the UK for the listeners to be able to meet up with bosses at the BBC. At the end of the day they forget we pay for the service. We expect to be respected.

That's my favoured option. I can't see how the MB admin team can justify their cock-eyed actions unless this was the motive.

I love juicy conspiracy theories - and this is a prime candidate.

Like I've said a few times already - something's up!

You may be interested to know that Peta only has 9 friends on Facebook. Guess who one of 'em is?

Ian, when you say Peta's FB page, is that a R2 based page or her personal page?

It doesn't really matter, since individual Members (who have "friends" associated with their registration) are in turn associated with "groups" (eg: The BBC Radio 2 group). So we're probably talking about Peta's "Facebook friends".

Now here's a thing: the contents of 'Radio 2 Messageboard Closing' and 'Goodbye and Thank You' have been wiped (at least this is what I found when I went to have a look at the last goodbyes).

Others - like 'Chris Evans is the Most Talented Presenter' still have their content!

Interesting.

Indeed Colin, I have a FB account so I understand the dynamic, I was simply interested to see if we were getting a balanced understanding of said friendship. It would explain quite a lot.

As I understand it (probably from reading the Radio 3 board), the moderation of the board is done by an external company. I wonder who owns them?

Sorry - I replied too quickly before reading your post properly. Yes, I think it's Peta's own associations. That said, I don't know for sure because I can't find her profile.

Some of the online moderation and management is contracted out, though I've been told that Peta has a desk within the main Radio 2 production office in Western House. I think she works on freelance contract for the Beeb.

A company called Tempero.

What is more interesting is what OTHER websites have got to say about Tempero.

You can't really blame them - they're only doing what their contract would require them to do.

She seems to have 2 pages - a private one (that I don't think has Scott as a friend), and a BBC Music one with 9 friends including Scott. But I suppose the latter could be a fake one or something.

I've just been browsing it. Some of the posts are sickly and it looks like the usual Facebook waste-of-space. Best avoided.

Just checked - they seem to be intact. Messageboard blip maybe?

Have said that, many other threads have completely vanished!

A good thing that some people managed to save the R&M thread. Smile

Cherish it quickly because it looks to me like the database is being deleted (after legally-required backups are made, of course).

You're welcome Dalmatina. Here's how the news was told on 6 music (which is only losing one board)

Mark, you suggest that the BBC is against freedom of speech. In that case, why was Scott Nelson allowed to spout his ageist, offensive, insulting, obnoxious nonsense on the R2MB?

If anyone complained about or criticised Chris Evans, their postings were removed by Peta and the moderators. She was always massaging Evans's ego on the R2MB and telling us how much of a wonderful guy he is.

Somebody opened a new post on the BBC POV boards asking where the radio 2 message boards had gone and after post 5 when they expressed disquiet and said they would write to their MP, surprise surprise the whole lot disappeared, no trace remains except the section that I copied, not sure how to get it on here.

Has anyone had a look at smeggys.co.uk recently
I had a quick look today and there were a few names I recognised but there didn't seem to be much there about radio or music other than the Sarah Kennedy thing
I think that was where Mr Turbo Poster himself was heading last time I had any contact with him

Not removed, just moved to 'The BBC' messageboard:

Just looked on there and I see the three trolls are present: Scott Nelson, Iain Smith and Major Brit. They all posted on the R2MB at one point.

Guess who they're slagging off? Sarah Kennedy.

If only the winning the Lottery was as predictable. I'd be a rich beyond my wildest dreams by now.

Smeggys does have a few nuggets of info on it but the presence of nelson turns my stomach. You could predict nelsons latest hot rumour on the R2mb because Iain Smith posted it on Smeggys, hence my theory they are one and the same. Confused to be honest avoid it Very Happy
