With less than a day to go before the R2MB is closed, the BBC online staff have already deleted the link to the boards from the very bottom of the R2 home page. The boards are still hanging on by the skin of their teeth, though.

Make the most of it whilst you can and let's see how many people can get themselves banned for doing nothing wrong in the twilight of the board's existence!!! |

But bear in mind that getting banned may also prevent you from participating in any other BBC online activity, such as applying for tickets for shows, concerts etc.

Honestly?
That's ridiculous. Perhaps I should be mildly grateful that I only managed to get myself on pre-mod ...!  |

Considering just about every show is made "down south" its no great loss to me! |

I used to post occasionally on the Radio 3 board but can't since June.
This morning I'll try writing to Radio2.hosts@bbc.co.uk and ask Peta to set me free!

And I'm upset that a dispute with the Radio Two boards has resulted in me being restricted from posting on other BBC boards where I don't have a quarrel, nor do the h2g2 Editors/mods there have a quarrel with me... so they'll really be this petty? If ISIHAC ever comes to the Manchester area, this means I'm barred from applying for tickets?
Sheesh...

| It was switfly removed. You can still google Radio 2 message board. Anyway it'll be gone in a few hours, or by now if someone reads this later. |

It will be cached by Google for some considerable time yet. Google still lists web pages of mine that were removed three years ago, even though the robots come round several times per day. The exception is if the web team insert a "robots=nofollow" tag into the page code. |

Only from the IP address that the BBC's servers will have linked to you. If your IP address changes or if you use another connection - eg: that of a friend, relative, or web cafe - or even a smartphone's data connection on 3G or public WiFi - you'll be able to assume a different identity. I've created a new BBC Online account whilst waiting at an airport before in an internet cafe; I've also used the free WiFi in a shopping mall on my iPhone to do the same.
In that instance, set yourself up with a free 3rd party email account at Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, or whatever and use that as the registered email address on the BBC's system.
Finally, all you have to do is to set up a new login account on the BBC's system from the 3rd party web access and use your new email account as the linked address and Bob's yer proverbial uncle.
Not many realise that a Smartphone (such as an iPhone, iPad, Blackberry or any other mobile device that hooks into the web via a 3G "data" connection) is using a unique IP address - and some of these are dynamic (ie: they change each time you connect).
If you use a Laptop or Netbook computer with a 3G USB data dongle you'll find that it's associated with a unique Mobile Phone number too, even on PAYG, and that will have its own IP address, too. Use this to log into the BBC's system.
The thing you must be careful to do is never then log in to the BBC using the static IP address that was originally banned because the system logs not only the use of this address but also associates other IPs to that account - and these will also then be put on the "block" list.
That's what happened to me, so if I wished to create a new BBC Online account now I'd have to use a completely new way of connecting. As it happens, I have a newly-allocated O2/iPhone 3G Ip address and I also use a 3G Data dongle on a netbook computer which has never been used to connect to the BBC.
The BBC will not like this information being published, but given the way ordinary users have been abused by their admins lately I really don't care! Screw them, that's what I say.

I had a quick reply from Peta.
To get back on board, so I can post on other BBC forums, I need to contact the Central Community Team via the main message boards page.

So maybe someone higher than Peta had made the decision to suspend me so severely.
