....... and good riddance to appalling and biased standards of moderation.

Still, there are some surprises just around the corner, folks.

Laughing Laughing

sorry... I just had to laugh.. I managed to be the very last poster when the boards closed back in 2006 and guess what? I did it again! (not intentionally I have to add )
That mischievous Lonegroover sneaked a last minute thread in about Chris Evans being the most talented presenter on Radio 2..
I just managed to get in "Cobblers" as the boards sank beneath the waves... Laughing Laughing

I feel quite sad tbh Col. I only really posted on the Your Music board apart from occasional forays over to the other bit so I avoided a lot of the controversy and unpleasantness.

I made some really good friends on there, got introduced to some fantastic music and all in all it was a good experience.

I agree it had seen better days and the strange modding and increased bias was apparent towards the end to the point where even I was noticing it.

I don't suppose we'll ever know the whys and wherefores but for me, it's a fond farewell to the Your Music board and the friends I made on there.

Indeed I do. That was a far more significant occasion than the mere closing down of a badly-moderated BBC MB though.

Like a hole in the head. It became intolerable in the end - a disgrace.

And doesn't just prove the point about bias and appalling standards of moderation lots of people here have been making?

They're happy to keep a positive post about that idiot Evans whereas any criticism must be erased from history immediately. The result is that the very last post to be set in aspic is one that is praiseworthy of the one person to have been the object of so much derision.

What a surprise.

Like I said before - good riddance to the BBC R2MB. Seriously.

Facebook, not the BBC, owns all content there, so it's different.

I don't think the comparison is fair, to be honest. The Moat saga was in a completely different - and more serious - league.

Something to do with "appalling, biased and inconsistent standards of moderation perhaps?" Smile

Yep. No surprises eh? It's almost like that's the way the mods were instructed to leave it, don't you think?

Details on the threads remain for 'Scott Nelson Bids Fond Farewell', 'Chris Evans Most Talented' and the rest appears to have been deleted.

Someone's making a point Wink

You can bet the mortgage the Radcliffe and Maconie thread was pulled as quickly as the BBC could get their fingers on the 'delete' button Laughing

If you can still see some post threads on the R2MB then it's likely that your browser cache needs emptying. The cache does exactly that - it stores elements of a web page to speed up the next visit, even where the information no longer exists on the server.

I've just checked the R2MB and I could see quite a lot of information, but immediately I emptied the cache all I see is a screen announcing that the MessageBoard is closed with suggestions about alternatives. I then checked the same URL on another browser and the info was displayed.

I can still pull up "my discussions" which are all still accessible except the "Chris Evans - R2's most talented presenter?" one which is blank... gits!
