M15 have warned soon to be freed inmates who are committed extremists could likley return to "terriost activities" There are also warnings that the "IRA" could start a bombing campaign on the UK mainland. These warnings come as the party conferences start. The first one is with the coalition in Birmingham.

Whilst I'm sure there's some basis for his announcement, I do find it interesting that he chooses to spread fear among the natives just as the government is proposing to impose a 25% across-the-board funding cut for public-sector bodies.

You don't think this is, perhaps, a little bit of carefully-timed PR for MI5, Mark? In other words - get in quick before the "Special Measures" are announced, put the fear of god up 'em, get the Daily Mail onside and then hope that MI5's budget will be spared!

What perfect timing!

"Dear Chancellor, no need to cut MI5's budget now."

How many more times are we going to hear this? I'm sick and tired of it. The again we must be terrified all the time that way the government can keep control of us (so they think)

I agree. The timing's just too coincidental in my view.
