I remember reading Sally Bozeman was stalked. I guess there are some nutters who stalk radio and tv presenters day and day out, but never caught. |

Well, a good radio presenter (of which Vine is one despite -sometimes- the content of his programme) makes themselves welcome in your home, and has to be someone you like spending hours with every day. So you can see how some people might think they're the special one that the presenter is talking to - especially now e-mail, Facebook, Twitter etc, makes it even easier to interact with them. |

It is a fine line between being a dedicated fan and being a menacing stalker- with all the electronic methods of "following" people available these days, it makes it very easy for people to cross that line without them realising it. They can check where you live on Google street view and find all sorts of stuff out just from tiny bits of info - you have to be so careful.
I am quite a dedicated fan myself but I'd never try to see someone without an invitation or a properly prearranged meeting. I have experienced Stalkers.
Stalkers are scary- a guy once followed me to work ( 35 miles) in my car, then when I turned into the road to where I worked he overtook me, pulled in front and blocked the road- he asked me for a date- I turned him down, the next week he was parked outside my home, when I got home from work- he asked for a date again. I told him I was married(I wasn't) No rings he said. I had no clue who he was or where he came from or why he had decided to follow me. I arranged to have a lift to and from work for a few months and he gave up, I hope - I still worry now though.
The best advice (this what I was told to do by our security controller) is to be unpredictable. Don’t follow the same route to work each day, don’t eat in/drink in the same café/pubs at lunchtimes, if there’s different exits and entry points to work, use a different one each day. Don’t use the same petrol station each week. Don’t shop in the same supermarket at the same time each week- vary everything so you cannot be pinned down. Don’t ever put on facebook, twitter or in a blog where you will be at a certain time- always tweet and blog the past- never the future. |

There was a drama...based on a true story...about this subject the other week on the TV....the woman was clearly deranged.
I hope the court issue a restraining order against the this individual and she loses interest ..it must be a nightmare for Jeremy and others who find themselves in a similar situation. |

Yeah, it's one thing to laugh at certain members' devotion to certain presenters, quite another to link it to stalking, which that message has done. It's an accusation which could be taken as libellous/slanderous.
Only JohnW and the poster can do anything about it - perhaps AM would care to have a rethink. _________________ Ron |

Yes Helen,
Of course we all KNOW Angus said it jokingly but the paranoid BBC bods likely read this forum quite carefully and we wouldn't want them to get the wrong idea about one of our members. _________________ -

It's like Play Misty For Me all over again - by the way, Johnnie Walker played Ray Stevens' version of Misty on Sounds Of The 70's the other week.
Does anyone remember Blue Tulip who stalked Mike Read? _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

Aye - I heard that - and it was a request. I was surprised Walker didn't reference the film. |

You've got to be careful out there in internet land. Be very careful.
I fell foul of an over-zealous lady admirer once, and had it not been for a timely intervention along the line, it could well have gotten out of order very quickly. Not nice.

When I first saw this I thought- I know just the track but I couldn't quite remember it, or who it was by but- I found it today while listening to a few CDs at home.
Do you think Jezza will play it?
