Lynn was fantastic this morning. I hope that she's going to do more early weekend stuff - Saturday's too, that would be good.

I just looked up Parson in the online dictionary, & it turns out she is a Parish Priest.
Priest to the parish of radio 2??

Looks like Lynn is covering the dawn patrol week 16th August. I hope Lynn stays at Smooth Radio when the new schedule is announced for October. I love her weekend shows on the station. Smooth are now on National DAB radio. At least she's still got some work at Radio 2.

I'd rather hear her back at Radio 2 full time. Let her be temporary cover at Smooth instead.

I agree. Smooth is so smooth it's nauseous!

I agree. For a while Smooth did experiment with a slightly more adventurous (with a small "a"!!) music policy but now it is very weak. Magic is much better

Smooth are supposed too be challenging Radio 2 on there national D1 service. I suppose there will be some different changes at the nework once the schedule has been announced for October. Although there hasn't been any announcement too who apart from Tony Blackburn, Mark Goodier and Paul Coia who are staying, but there supposed to be some new recruits.

Challenging what, exactly? Is Smooth challenging R2 for the title "Most bland radio network in the UK?". It's going to be close call, that's for sure!

Maybe Lynn took the offer of standing-in for Sk quite literally, or maybe she stood up very quickly pushing the swivel chair out of sight just as the picture was taken, or maybe she was just about to sit down but the Producer sneaked in quietly behind her and then pulled the chair away – in the next shot Lynn can be seen on her back with all four limbs in the air; the just out of shot crew all falling about laughing, or maybe Lynn just likes to stand. It’s no biggy really. Interesting though. Mark, what activities do you do standing up that others do sitting down?

I was convinced Michael Jackson had shares in Smooth due to the amount of his songs played!

Let Lynn Parsons work at R2 permanently and dep for Ken Bruce.

Best make the most of her. Guardian Media says she is to hold the fort on the new Smooth Radio national breakfast show pending the arrival of Simon Bates in the new year.

I doubt she will be deputising again on R2.

Just wondering as Lynn hasn't said during the week she's sitting in for Sarah, and was asking to email Lynn.Parsons for showtunes request and not sarah email address. This seems to be an announced holiday. Is there something going on as Lynn is also covering this coming week, and in the RT to cover august bank holiday week too?

Lynn starts to cover Smooth breakfast from October.

I have e-mailed Radio 2 to ask what is going on with SK and when we can expect her back. Not holding my breath for a reply but if I get one, will pass it on.

I think it odd that LP hasn't even mentioned Sarah.

I don't think that it's odd that Lynn hasn't mentioned SK because there's so many reasons why SK could be off -and really, it's non of our business, she could be on holiday, feeling poorly, she could be in hospital, or needed to look after an elderly relative, she could be in dispute with the beeb, she could be stuck in that huge traffic jam in China....who knows.

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20100823/twl-going-nowhere-traffic-jam-enters-nin-3fd0ae9.html

It's the BBC's job to broadcast not to keep us up to speed on individual presenter's personal lives. Her fans should be thankful when she's on air and wishing her well when she's not. As listeners- that's all we're really entitled to.

Ha - an amusing story there, Rachel. I'd say it may soothe our minds as we fear the return of the relatively quiet British rush hour next month, but then again perhaps its a sign of things to come... *gulp*

That's a bit harsh Rachel! I merely meant it's odd that LP hasn't said she's "sitting in for Sarah" or something of that ilk.

Yes, I've noticed the lack of reference to SK as well. Very odd - because Richard Allinson would be reminding us that he's "in for Sarah this week and next" all the time.

I have noticed that, but didn't Steve Wright disappear without saying he's away for 5 weeks? I suppose in the past presenters have said they are away and then some nasty people write things on the message boards. Although it is strange. I suppose she's on a long holiday.

I think someone posted on the R2 board that a week past Friday she said 'See you on Monday' which is I suppose why everyone's puzzled. That could have been a slip of the tongue, force of habit perhaps.

It just seems a bit out of character though.

Lynn Parsons is the best female presenter on Radio 2 by a mile
She should be given a regular daily show once her breakfast stint with Smooth ends in January
I'd love to see her on the breakfast show or if not in place of Ken Bruce who could quite happily move to breakfast
With so many children I expect he would be glad to get out of the house
Lynn is wasted as a deputy and the BBC should not let her slip through the net like they did with Mark Goodier another wonderful presenter

I don't know if anyone listens to Smooth Radio? Lynn has been off Smooth weekends, well Smooth altogether as she sometimes covers shows over the last few weeks at least, whilst on Radio2. Nigel Williams seems to be covering now.

I listened to Smooth for the first time this morning and caught Tony Blackburn banging on about sandwiches
I thought his show was very entertaining but I notice that it is essentially still a linked series of local stations mine apparently being based in Salford Quays
I'm really looking forward to hearing Lynn on their breakfast show until January and like I said she is deserving of a permanent show somewhere
I think she should have a daytime slot on Radio 2

I listen on National DAB or in London on 102.2 which is been tested out until it goes national in October. I don't think Tony, Mark or Lynn will come from Salford Quays, but guessing the rest of the shows will?

Yes Mark in future I'll probably listen via my Skybox but I just happened to stumble across Smooth on the old fashioned FM Radio whilst I was trying to find Classic FM
Glad I did though
