I thought Sandie Shaw did much better today and a strong choice of music made for a good show.

Looking at it objectively I agree with all the criticisms of the Beatles' Hold Me Tight, yet still like it.

The Young Ones, I Remember You and Bobby's Girl encapsulate the essence of winter, summer and autumn 62 respectively more than any other tracks that I know.

Nice to hear the high-quality voices of Matt Monro and Helen Shapiro.

Intriguing to hear the Chris Sandford disc, a smallish hit in late 63. I think he was in Coronation St at the time. But you'd need to be at least my age to remember Chris' father, Sandy Sandford, who was a leading light in 1950s children's TV, on those flickering 12 inch screens!

Ian.

Hi Ian

I missed eary bit this week again, but Sandie was a bit better than last week.

Chris Sandford, was he a window cleaner in Corrie?

Bobby's Girl was a fave of mine, still in junior school at the time but Susan Maughan was a local girl and it was very popular up there.

I was nowt but a toddler when 'Bobby's Girl' was a hit but one of the few memories I have of that time is liking that record. I don't know why I liked it. It was probably just the sound of it.

Hi Helen. Glad you've joined us.

Have hardly ever watched Corrie so someone else would need to advise you on the profession followed by the Chris Sandford character.

I believe that Susan Maughan came from Consett, County Durham. It's a shame that, despite some excellent singles, she never again had a big hit after Bobby's Girl.

Ian.
