The new breakfast show with Chiles and Bleakley.
I've watched it a few times now and er.... it's awful.
Compared to the old show (Ben Shepherd Kate Garroway et al) this Daybreak is quite embarrssing. What are the producers doing during the transmission? They should be doing hand-signals to tell Chiles what he's doing wrong!
For example:
- he is permanently sitting in a hunched position
- he leans forward towards the camera far too often (is he trying to read an autocue?)
- he sits far to close to Bleakley, their bodies overlap, and when he hunches and leans forward he blocks her out
- when Bleakley is speaking to a guest I've seen Chiles sit upright with his arms folded, probably thinking he's not on camera
- he whispers
- he NEVER smiles, never _________________ -

Terrible ratings and even worse Audience Appreciation scores - amongst the lowest on record, in fact! Not seen it myself, but seems like another genius move from "the brighter side" |

I used to like and respect Adrian Chiles but I lost all respect for him following his great song and dance about alleged racist comments off camera by Carol Thatcher several months ago
He claimed he was offended by her words but here is a man who used to present Match of the Day 2 and regularly attends matches at West Bromwich Albion so I would imagine he would hear near the knuckle comments and bad language on a fairly regular basis
Whatever the merits or otherwise of the situation with Carol Thatcher it was quite ridiculous of him to claim he was offended and the BBC should simply have told him to grow up and get real |

I stopped watching it because it was so amateurish. _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

I try not to see too much (but Someone likes it on) and agree - it's turgid.
The presenters aren't helped by the minimalist purple set and the boring format which repeats everything every fifteen minutes, but Chiles flounders, as I suspected he might.
All of which makes the programme's nomination for a National Television Award all the more comical - the NTAs is, I believe, an ITV sponsored event.

It's still a new programme, so I am sitting on the fence for a while. I was glad to see the back of GMTV, though. As for Lorraine Kelly, why - no, how - has she retained her job at ITV? |

I have never watched GMTV in it's old form so this one is OK...but I can't watch a whole one The BBC, I find dreadful as Billy boy keeps sluring his words......I think he needs new teeth As for Ms Williams she keeps sticking out her boobs and posing from side to side...gggggrrrrrrr
As for Lorraine Kelly....what is the point of her???? _________________ I like hedgehog crisps |

I don't watch ITV either... I'll see some of the BBC Breakfast News whilst getting breakfast sorted and about 15 minutes will do me.... there's so much repetition it drives me nuts! I appreciate it must be difficult to put a programme like this together without repeating everything to suit the early morning audience.
I also think the couch presentation is wearing thin now.. it comes across as awkward to me.. as Blondehedgehog observes, the female presenters swivel around constantly, cranking their necks to see the screens behind them.
But even more annoying for me are the ridiculous 1 minute "interviews" standing up! it looks sooo uncomfortable for the participants.
I couldn't watch ITV's version with adverts. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Was that because they were bad at singing or bad at presenting the weather? |

Adrian and Christine have their say in today's Guardian....contains some bad language...
Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley: 'It's us against the world at 4am'
They were the BBC's dream team whose on-screen chemistry had everyone watching. Then they moved to ITV's breakfast show – and it all fell apart......

I bet Evans finds it all so amusing, adding to the trail of destruction in his wake. No wonder so many people working in broadcasting dislike him so much! |
