OK I know it's not about R2 but The Independent newspaper today reported , under the headline "Evans fails to ginger up The One Show", that the Friday edition of The One Show has lost more than a quarter of it's listeners since you know who began presenting it.

I don't watch it but I'm not surprised.. I have seen a couple of snippets and he irritates the hell out of me. Hearing him is bad enough but to see him as well is too much.

No doubt the BBC will spin it around and probably give him a pay rise.

Well Evans bangs on about Friday's One Show so much on his Breakfast Show it could be considered radio!

The One Show has been destroyed, not necessarily by Evans but certainly since the announcement of his arrival on a Friday.

I fail to see what the big idea was, can someone please tell me what he has brought to the Friday show?

He did make an appearance on a Friday show last year, and I just get the feeling that he thought I want a piece of this, and of course the BBC bosses obliged.

As I understand it he's brought a reduction in audience figures
Let's hope the same think happens on radio
I think it's only a matter of time

No one I know has anything good to say about the Breakfast Show, not scientific I know, but I'm looking forward to reduced figures and red faces all around.

Trouble is will anything change?

Laughing Laughing Laughing I just spit me coffee all over the screen laughing at that one. What a brilliant headline 'Evans fails to ginger up The One Show' lol. For some reason that has really tickled my funny bone. Oh dear, oh dear Laughing

When are the BBC going to get it into their heads that people don't like the bloke. On the telly, on the radio. A quick scour around the internet would tell them that but no ....

When the show invited people to contact them with suggestions for "Dom's On The Case" (Dom Littlewood sorts viewers problems out) I emailed asking Dom if he could kick the producer's door down and knock some sense into his head when it comes to employing that hyped-up idiot Evans on Fridays.

I didn't receive a reply.

Hahaha - that Dom Littlewood's an annoying little so and so as well, but compared to you know who his irritation factor is zilch.

Personally I think the whole programme is a crock anyway. Never could understand why they'd get a celeb in (some of 'em quite good ones) and make them sit there for half an hour watching films on wheel clamping, the plight of the lesser spotted wombat in the outer hebrides ... get about 2 minutes to actually speak (usually to plug summat) and listen while the likes of Dom, Gyles Brandreth, that fat bloke that does the food and various other 'correspondents' come and sit on the sofa beside them and speak a sentence or two about the film they've just watched. You can see them stifling their yawns, shuffling about in their seats and thinking what the hell ...?

I honestly don't know why anyone watches it anyway, but with him on it ... it's no wonder the figures have dropped.

I don't dislike the show actually, and when it manages to combine some good insert features with entertaining guests it's actually OK, but when it's not it's, er, boring......... that's the risk producers take with such a format.

It was good the other night when Shane Ritchie and Jessie Wallace ("Alfie and Kat" from Eastenders) were on simply because they got involved in everything that was going on. It's quite rare though. It does annoy me that guests will only agree to be guests when they're plugging their latest product. Still, that's media today.

I still think the way Adrian Chiles was treated by management was utterly deplorable and he was absolutely right to tell 'em to stuff it. If it ain't broke why fix it? It proves that the BBC is intent on giving Evans the limelight at every opportunity, come rain or shine.

That said, I don't see his or Christine Bleakley's future over on Daybreak being that rosy - it's a stultifyingly awful show!

I hope the Friday ratings for The One Show plummet even further, because that will certainly provide justification for the feelings of many viewers - me included.

Have to disagree that Daybreak will fail, yes its not good but ITV cannot afford for it to fail and will ensure that it does happen, watch out for Roland Rat!

I also quite like the One Show, the concept is good, it has some excellent and informative films, but its only as good as its guests, and its down to the presenters to bring the best out of them, of which the present ones are incapable of doing.

As for the Friday show, its a complete disaster, and yes I hope viewing figures continue to decline along with the breakfast show, so this idiot can disappear (hopefully this time permanently) from our airwaves.

Going back to what soulsister says about no one liking him, its is somewhere near the truth, but don't forget he has friends in very high places, he didn't amass his wealth and influence without them. I'm sure he has some very good friends high up within the BBC.

Evans other problem is he is not a man for the time, all we seem to hear is what car he's just bought, what celeb he had lunch with last night or what showbiz party he's attending. He's forgetting that many of his listeners are struggling to make ends meet, and the last thing they want to hear is how this overpaid overrated overexposed plonker is spending our licence fee!!

Exactly what I said over on the other board. What I did notice yesterday was 'the great one' was slating Daybreak. What I would really LOVE to see is ITV rescheduling the programme to coincide with The One Show. Sorry if I shouldn't be talking about TV but CE has ruined both my breakfast radio and my early evening viewing - Adrian Chiles was happy to remain, with the same contract but, no, the BBC had to ruin it!

Very Angry from Witney!

Am i alone in never having watched a single minute of this show? The title music puts me off more effectively than 'we buy any car'!

Anyone see Phill Jupitus on one show this week? I am not a great fan of his but he did make me smile. He went on about people being chirpy in the morning....having a 'dig' at the ginger bread man, but using Chris Tarrants voice...... Laughing Any one with little grey cells knew who he was getting at.

Alex got a bit hot and bothered and quickly got on to next subject...

Jupitus has of course been very critical of BBC radio of late since he left 6Music's breakfast show so I'm surprised that he was having a little pop at the ginger one.

I used to enjoy Adrian Chiles's rather lugubrious persona and it worked well on The One Show with Christine Bleakley. I do think it was very bad of the BBC to insult him by bringing in CE for the Friday show.

I don't listen to the Breakfast Show but if CE is slating Daybreak then doesn't that show him up as being far too big for his boots and also rather mean and small-minded.

Pride before a fall hopefully.

Made far worse by the fact that they didn't tell him about it until the deal was done. Gutless cretins!
