A Play For Today by Alan Bleasdale on BBC 4 tonight at 10 first shown in 1980, forerunner of the brilliant Boys from The Blackstuff, the series that brought the unforgettable character of Yosser Hughes to our screens

A rare funny moment from Boys from The Blackstuff that still makes me laugh when I think about it is when Yosser goes to confession and says to the priest 'I'm desperate Father.." and the priest replies '"Call me Dan" to which Yosser replies "I'm Desperate Dan"...... Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Thanks for reminding me of that Becky. I was helpless the first time I saw him say that, and was nearly in tears just now trying to read your posting out to my husband. Laughing Laughing

There was an episode of "The Boys from the Black Stuff" on BBC4 on Sunday evening around 9.30, but I can't see it on iPlayer sadly - the only programme of the evening and its not available! Mad

I think that's because it's a repeat...
