I start work at 7.00 and tend to listen to Gold as I can't stand Evans or Moyles and Radio Kent's breakfast show is all talk and no music, so I put up with the hiss and crackle on AM (or medium wave as we oldies call it!). The music is great but they do tend to repeat a lot of tracks which does seem strange considering that they have three decades of music to choose from. Once I get within range, I sometimes flick back to Smooth or Magic on FM.
Anyone else listen to Gold?

Hi Nilbert
I too sometimes listen to Gold, mainly when R2 is in public service mode, Jeremy Vine, late nights etc. And I agree with your point as to why they play a relatively small number of tracks when their remit allows them 30 years of classic hits.
It has to be a Global radio rule as their other stations seem to be on high rotation too.
My second choice of alternative station is Planet Rock. Since it was sold to Malcolm Bluemel and became independent, it seems to go from strength to strength. A good alternative to The Organist Entertains.  |

It's also part-owned by several prominent musicians - one of whom is Rick Wakeman. I think (though I can't be sure) that Gary Moore has an interest, too. |

| I didn't know that Colin. Thanks for the info. Its pretty clear that it isn't owned by the big groups. I can't think of a single Global / Baeur / GMG station that comes anyehere PR for quality broadcasting. |

I have found Gold far too repetative.
BTW in most areas you should be able to listen to them without the snap crackle & pops on DAB Radios |

Just looked it up on Wikipedia.
