I always find the concept of the 'R2 album of the week' rather odd because it seems to imply R2 play or at least are interested in albums but apart from KB no other show will play anything from it and after that week you've little chance of ever having a track from the album again, or any other albums for that matter |

Not quite true Nod. Alex Lester's show also features the album of the week as well as Ken Bruce. But why it's only on these two shows, I don't know. I do see where you're coming from though. After the given album has been 'album of the week', all you're likely to hear are the singles that are taken off it. Sometimes you might hear something different on Bob Harris' show, perhaps Janice Long's too.
6 music has an 'album of the day', at least on the midweek shows they do and all the presenters get to pick a different track from the given album. A much better way to do it I think. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

A different ELO track on Ken Bruce today. 'Shangri La' played as the post Popmaster 'comfort break' track. I can't recall ever hearing that played on the radio before. Hoping they keep on playing the different ones. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Apart from the Beatles, and Led Zep, who never released their stuff as singles, it's very rare for anyone's album tracks to be played during the daytime. _________________ Ron |

Moving back on topic, I saw Paddy Kielty on "Mock The Week" at the weekend, where he was pretty good. So why is he so bad on the radio? Is it because MTW is scripted and they have plenty of time to write jokes?
Come to think of it ISTR that Lee Mack was bad when he did a show covering for someone. Its very odd that good stand up comedians make bad radio presenters - other than Rick Gervaise perhaps? Discuss.... |

Moving back off topic but in reply to Gibbo, both Frank Skinner's and Dave Gorman's weekend shows on Absolute are pretty good and worth a listen. Russell Howard and Al Murray have also been good when they have stood in on Absolute. Maybe just a question of picking the right comedians. I think Danny Wallace has done some decent shows as a sub on Absolute but not sure as I get him and Dave Gorman confused. |
