Why isn't RA covering any more. He was excellent. I figured that GN covered last time because he was getting some radio experience. Can't we have some consistency in our stand ins.

Off topic - I see your comments about The One Show were published in the Daily Record the other day. Are tabloids getting lazy in their journalism?

It's obvious, isn't it? The controller has plans for Richard Madeley longer term - whereas there are no such plans for Mr. Allinson. That's the way it seems to work at R2 these days.

That's the problem, he did the job too well and it made the nationals.

I'm sure the BBC don't want the embarrassment again!

Too late for me I'm afraid. We're already committed now to Christian O'Connell on Absolute Radio. He really makes me laugh. A lot of what he does is not so different from CE, (he talks to kids and has sidekicks)but he just does it so much better. And the women on his show are allowed to have real presence.

I won't be listening in, his style does nothing for me. I wish it could have been Richard Allinson sitting in instead!

I'm glad to have anybody else presenting, to be honest, but I'd much prefer Allinson in the spot. Failing that, I wish they'd give Alex Lester a try.

I just love Mark's title for this thread - it conjures up pictures of Madeley throwing a big blanket over Evans...now THERE'S a thought... Laughing

Have a look at recent tweets and you'll that some idiot at the BBC has spelt "Cornish Pasty" as "Cornish Pastie". Dipstick!

A bit stilted, and the usual fall-back of 'contact the show if you've ever ...', but INFINITELY better than the Ginger Whinger.

I'm enjoying the way he doesn't talk all over the intro of a song.

Although so far I've heard Genesis and "In the Army Now" (played Friday) and Paulo Nutini's "Nothings gonna bring me down" (played over the weekend).

He started by saying something "The fun starts right here..." and I thought "It's time to switch off". However, I resisted the temptation and only switched off after hearing the third or fourth "Oh my god moment" from people texting in their stories about how they texted the wrong text to the wrong person. If you get my drift. Boring? Yep.

Evans might have taken a holiday but the banality hasn't.

Didn't sound good to me, felt very awkward. I am sure he'll get batter as he gets more comfortable, well at least I hope he does

You obviously missed the 'Fran Healey oh I love HER stuff' gaff a bit before In The Army Now...................

The worst part of this morning's programme was that lady who was reviewing the newspapers. I appreciated the time given to the morning's stories and Radio 2 is much in need of included a feature like this in a breakfast show since it was snatched away from Sarah but that woman this woman... - unfunny, unsure, and un-listenable.

Richard's alright though but I still miss Sir Tel.

I didn't hear that as I'd forgotten it was safe to listen until later on. Who was it do you know?

Yeah, a lady called Bryony Gordon - I looked her up on wikipedia, she used to be one of The Mirror's '3am Girls'. Strange choice.

I've heard of and even met a Briony Warden who used to work for The Sun about 10 years ago
Are you sure it was't her?

Bryony Gordon is a regular, nay prolific, columnist with the Daily Telegraph.
If she's anything like her articles and blogs, she's a right pain in the ****

So getting a "celeb" jorno (I mean she writes about celebs not actually one) is the best way to review the papers, OOH how we laugh at a story about Magabbe

Was a tad disappointed with RM this morning...he fluffed quite a bit, and why does he have to have so many helpers? I was hoping for a change, but as a radio presenter I do not like him.....OMG I am playing into the hands of CE.....I dont and never have liked him...nuff said... Wink

Oh that's much better, this women still maintains that there is a link between Autism and the MMR jab because she knows someone who think it is dispite the scientific evidence to the contrary.

Actually contrary is the right word for her

I forgot that CE was on holiday. This morning I had a 2 hour train ride thinking it would be a waste of time switching on. I know it was on R2OK but was it trailled on the BBC or were we just meant to find out by accident? I thought Richard was very good when he covered for Michael Ball a few weeks ago so I'll give him a try.

I was really pleased when I found out that CE was away but I must admit, even though I don't listen to CE, it appears from what I have heard about him that Richard Maddeley seems to be trying to copy him or has had lessons from him. I just do not like the 'feel' of the show. It seems stilted - quite different to when Graham Norton took over. Did anyone else feel like switching off, especially when talking about what people got told off for at school?

He's just "ok" for me.. just a background noise.
I thought it wouldn't please some posters when his opening words this morning were "We've already got loads of Texts and Emails from listeners" Laughing

I don't normally listen to the late Sunday night line up but hearing Russell Davies, Clair Teal and David Jacobs this weekend makes me realise how good they are! excellent, varied music and good presenters.. if only Radio 2 daytime was more like this.

It's only the second day of his sitting in for the Gobby One but I think that from tomorrow I'll switching off after the 7.00am news. It's not quite as bad as Evans (could anything be as bad?) but it's not far behind.

To think this is National Network Radio. Dreadful.
