After a long period during which mid mornings on Saturdays on radio 2 were a no go zone, Graham Norton finally slides into the slot. He would not have been my first choice, but must be better than what has gone before |

I heard him stand in for CE while on a trip to Gatwick in the summer, I thought he was ok, with a bit more free reign on a Saturday should be good _________________ You will hear gospel and rhythm and blues and jazz, all those are just labels, we know that music is music. |

Better than what has gone before but still not good enough to make me change my listening habits on Saturday |

I just hope that Graham Norton doesn't talk too much about recipes and fondue dishes etc as he did when sitting in for CE.
Still, anything's better than Kielty going on about baking cakes. |

I suspect GN will be OK but I've now got so used to switching over to the Classic FM Chart after SOTS that I can't see me changing habit.

On GN's new Radio 2 webpage, it looks like the show will be more of a traditional 'breakfast show' than it was under Wossy - with features, travel and sport. It'll be interesting to see if he can pull this off - with Janice gone from BBC WM, it might be 6Music where I end up - but I'll give GN a chance until Christmas. |

That sounds strange considering the show starts at 10am
What time do you have breakfast? |

Well I switched off after half an hour. There had already been a so called sports interlude which was more about the fashion of the US gwags at the Ryder Cup.
Not a very good start in my book, that said I often switch off after SOTS.

I'm impressed by the extravagantly over-the-top jingles, though. I don't mind GN - okay for background music but no great show. |

I haven't heard that much of it but the parts I did catch was "X Factor" blah blah "X Factor" blah blah "X Factor"...
I'd be quite happy never to hear of that show again! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

We had it on, but I think it just drifted by me..... which is about the best I can hope for with R2 these days. Just so long as it doesn't drive me mad.... _________________ Minx

I agree, Helen and others. He is not the slightest bit interested in sport and showed his contempt by merely asking what the golfers were wearing. After the inevitable rubbish Blondie song and X Factor / Strictly drivel I turned off. Never again.
I thought Kielty going on about baking cakes for the past four weeks was bad enough. |

I have only one thing to say: David Jensen and Rick Wakeman, Planet Rock, 10.00am-1.00pm, Saturdays. |

A man of discernment, by the looks of it. Do you think he's sending a subtle message to someone on the outside in anticipation of Alan Carr taking over his slot? |

I only heard parts of Graham's show as I was in and out of the car this morning. The bits I did hear I enjoyed. Graham makes me smile. |

One thing - he's far better than Patrick Kielty, Patrick was just dreadful. |

You will be pleased to know then that Patrick will be back covering for Chris Evans on breakfast very shortly.

I liked Norton's new show. Not perfect, needs to settle in but a lot better than the previous torture that was Kielty.
Shame about the guests though, all Z-List (and the 'unclassified' Amanda Holden). |

That's not much of an endorsement, total silence is better than Patrick Kielty. |

Please. I think Patrick wouldn't be suited to Breakfast. They can keep Graham off it too. |

Does he pick who should cover shows? I think he has people too do that job around him. I'll still stick to what I said above. |
