I like it, the first 40 minutes is fantastic, and the rest, is pretty good, mostly.

I like some parts but not the shouting, talking over records, Johnnie Saunders, the megaphone, hello / goodbye, the news comp between Moira and JS, the sporting challenge (not radio to me to have to watch the internet).... Rolling Eyes

and I don't mind the kids bit or the music Very Happy

This thread is a reference to the fact that the 'Ginger Whinger' seems to be mentioned on just about every show on R2 either directly or indirectly at present. Are they acting on orders? Gawd help us, there was even a question about him on Friday's The Weakest Link, for heaven's sake! Rolling Eyes Glad that the contestant got the answer wrong (that made me snigger) but sorry they lost the dosh because of it.

I have to ask this. Are the presenters under orders to mention Chris berluddy Evans at least once in their show? I heard Janice Long do it last night, Lynn Parsons does it & Ken Bruce this morning. For the weakest of excuses. If they are, then why? It certainly won't make me listen or watch him. I'm heartily sick to death of hearing his name and seeing his face everywhere. Instead it'll just harden my resolve to avoid him at all costs.

To be fair, all the presenters run through the next 24 hours schedule of programmes at least once, and it's not unreasonable to expect Lynn to mention who's going to follow her.

As regards trailers, the one I always hear is for Paul O'Grady, and that does set my teeth on edge. The breakfast show is the station flagship, the one with the greatest audience, if you like the one with the most to lose... it's bound to get a lot of pre-publicity. Like all those tv commercials for our number one brands - Tesco or Direct Line or l'Oreal - it's annoying but, as I've said before, it is but once in a three-hour show of incidental music, not every 20 minutes through a story you're trying to follow.

Ron

They really over did it that day though! It was the Elvis thing and it was on every show I heard that day (I heard bits of all the daytime shows apart from his) and the next morning. From memory it was a longer than usual trail as well.

Perhaps they're having to work that bit harder to ensure that we're all indoctrinated!

Interesting that the only presenter who appeared to go out of her way to refuse to mention CE, even at the mandatory handover point at seven, was Sarah Kennedy - and lok what happened to her...

Hmm. Evans went on an unscheduled holiday in February this year, wasn't it, and there were whispers about his having had a falling-out with BBC bosses...

To be honest, I'm surprised they re-employed him after the manner of his fallnig out with Radio One, but it does occur to me that if he threatens to do the same in the future if he doesn't get his own way, the BBC have invested so much time and money and planning around him that any hint of another walk-out makes it their problem and not his. I have a suspicion they'd cave in and give him his own way were he even to threaten this, and both sides know it!

So - perhaps - the tail is seriously wagging the dog here?

The last time this happened was over Russell Brand - they were terrified of offending him and gave him the red light to behave how he pleased - and this eventually blew up in their faces in a way they found very hard to live down.

I wonder if Evans would ever be so ill-advised, or get carried away with the moment, so as to provoke a Russell Brand moment and bring 7,000 listener complaints down on his head? It is possible... but how would the BBC respond?

Oh, and I saw Russell B on the Paul o'Grady TV show. As is known, I'm not his greatest fan, but I had to hold up at least a couple of eights for the way he conducted himself on TV. There were really pleasant signs of Brand's growing up a bit and maturing, and possibly for the first time ever I laughed at one of his jokes... keep it up, Russell!

God I'm sick to death about constantly hearing about Chris Evans I think he is a horrible little man who has nothing going for him. I also object to the fact that we have worked hard for our money and the BBC squander it on him with a OTT salary.
It's been great without him and have really enjoyed the morning programme lately, but alas all good things must come to an end. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Sad Sad

Do you know, reading all these comments really makes up for the fact that I have to breakfast and drive in silence!

My husband is still in shock after avoiding him at all costs and seeing him whilst watching/listening to the Ryder Cup. Told him it serves him right for watching boring games!

Yes, I had to suffer that when watching the sports roundup on BBC Breakfast. Mind you, the satellite link did in fact go down as he started to speak. Great result!
