IMO, Trevor dann is the most useless git ever to come near a radio station.
I first heard of him when Mathew Bannister & Trevor dann arived at BBC Radio London to close down the station.
I'd listened alot to BBC Radio London in the late seventees & through the eightees. It was a wonderful, diverse entertaining radio station.
But Trevor dann thought "everyone who works here is rubbish" (his own words).
Mathew Bannister was the Hatchett Man in Chief & a very poor manager. Later at radio 1 the reason for the fiasco with Chris Evans' was that Bannister totally failed to manage Evans.
The two of them sacked alot of people both at Radio London & Radio 1. But while Mathew Bannister says that you would not be human if you didn't feel some discomfort in sacking people, Trevor dann actually got a kick out of sacking people.
He admits it gave him "an alm ost sexual" thrill.
Says alot about him!

I've no time for Dann or Bannister
Together they ruined more than one excellent radio station and in the process treated many respected presenters like dirt and upset a whole generation of loyal listeners
It beats me why anyone would want to listen to Bannister when he covers on Radio 2 after everything he has done in collusion with Dann over the years and as soon as I hear his voice my radio is firmly turned off
What was said about the failure to clamp down on Mr Evans is entirely true and it ended in disaster with certain people ending up with egg on their faces
Mark my words history will repeat itself this time on Radio 2 and its only a matter of time

Laughing No, but he used to play them a lot.

He used to present a pretty good rock show on BBC Radio Nottingham. It was given the wacky BBC 70s name of Extravaganza and went out on Saturday morning 10am until noon.

Steely Dan, Be Bop Deluxe, Druid, Café Jacques, Trapeze, Magnum, Little Feat, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Stillwater. Lord, those were the days

It all went downhill when he was headhunted by Radio 1 and London.

I think they did agreat job at radio1 they really defined their audience and it still the sam ethere now (no not my cup of tea but i'm approaching 40 I don't expect it to be)

However I agree about the CE if they had clamped down on him way back then he might not be such an "individual" now

That wouldn't surprise me at all. We've had the female equivalent to Matthew Bannister with Lesley Douglas who apparently let Russell Brand get away with just about anything, and we all know how that ended up! I suppose we've now got another Trevor Dann in Bob Shennan, who seems to say 'how high' when Evans says 'Jump'. Result - I'm listening to much less Radio 2 these days.

Did Dirty Dann name his Extravaganza programme for the Stackridge album of that name?

That will explain my ignorance. I rarely look into that one.

Colin B - I bet you're not keen on Sharon Corr's desecration of the Korgis' 'Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime'!

This got an absolute slating from the Stackridge fans on the Genesis fans' Turn It On Again board!
