I thought they'd already done the poetry thing on Jezza a few weeks ago? Was that just a warm up?
It's not really all "the arts" is it? I guess sculpture, painting and tapestry isn’t going to work on the radio though. Opera, yes, let’s have an Opera on Radio 2- Steve Wright could do it.....yes that would work! |

Well it will be interesting to see how many column inches that gets in tomorrow's newspapers.
I read it and didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
** We've had poetry weeks before - remember the Nation's Favourite Poems/Love Poems etc
** Why not sculpture and painting? Send Chris Evans back down to Cornwall to do a show at the Tate!
** Surely Richard Madeley is the man for the Book of the Week; Judy can do the tapestry.
** I thought Penny Smith was (rumoured to be) doing an Opera programme.
Mind you, we don't want opera to suffer over-exposure - Kiri has only just hosted an "Opera X-Factor"
Oh, and three of the author's initials have been left off at the bottom. _________________ Ron |

I am one of those weird people who don't mind opera but if I wanted to hear any on a BBC radio station I woujld try R3 that's not what R2 should be (although not sure anyone knows what it should do anymore) _________________ You will hear gospel and rhythm and blues and jazz, all those are just labels, we know that music is music. |

I remember when Jezza had his own 'official' poet on his show in it's early years. I think her first name was Lucy and she usually wrote a verse or two about one of the topics of the day. Perhaps Aitch can remember more about this. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Yes it was a warm up to get listeners to write in about their favourites I think Rachel.
National poetry day is an annual thing but I don't think they recognise it every year on R2 or indeed the JV show.

PS you're correct LEE she used to write topical verses and some were quite good. _________________ 88 - 91 FM this is Radio 2 from the BBC!

Pretty sure she was on last week's Saturday Live on Radio 4. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

The poet Murray Lachlan Young has been a regular co-presenter on the Radcliffe & Maconie show, as has Simon Armitage. _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!
