I watched this because of Suzanne Vega, but I also enjoyed her duet with Loudon Wainwright on the song about the couple who couldn't split up because they couldn't sell their house!
Richard Thompson wrote 'Genesis Hall' about a squat whose occupants were due to be thrown out, and his conflicted views on this as his dad served in the police at that time on the case. This happened over 40 years ago, but the song relates to now. _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

I'd have enjoyed the Chris Difford/Justin Currie/Boo Hewerdine edition more if the audience hadn't clapped five seconds into any Squeeze hit Difford sang - it's like they were on Britain's Got Talent, only these three HAD talent instead of sob-stories. _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

That has always happened in appreciation of a well loved song ( a polite-ish ripple of applause ) unlike the reality show watchers who whoop and holler if the artist so much as sneezes... |
