I have heard clips from the new album from Jason Donovan. It features covers from the 80s bands like - Tears For Fears - Everyone wants to rule the world & Mr Mister - Broken Wings - plus few new songs. Although I don't always like artists covering songs, it does sound good.

So I take it you were listening to Steve Wright today like millions of others
Don't make it sound so exclusive
Jason Donovan to me has never been a singer but everyone to their own
In the 80s he was simply in the right place at the right time _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Sorry Colin I meant Mark but missed his name out
I hardly ever listen to Steve's show these days but I happened to hear it today and I was pleased that he had John Craven as a guest, a man who I have the highest regard for
Country file has not been the same since John took a back seat and the show moved to Sunday evenings
The weekly weather forecast for me is still compulsory viewing _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Me too. I met him once in a lift at BBC Television Centre at the time that he was still doing Newsround. I got in and he was there. I said: "Hello John, pleased to me you".
He replied: "Pleased to meet you too" and got out at the next floor.
I lead such an exciting life!!! |

I heard a track on SW today, not for me it sounded bland
Why bother covering stuff like 'everybody wants to rule the world' when it's not as good as the original ? |

Same for me, It's too much like Blue Peter with Matt Baker & Julia Bradbury, BUT JC said they now get 7m viewers instead of the 2m before so I don't think there's a chance of a change back |

Heard a few minutes of him this afternoon. I've heard some of the tracks (from the album) before but can't think where?? It's annoying me now!
Can't say I'd rush out and buy it though.

Give it a few weeks and it will be in the remainder bins, then all the aunties can buy them for their teenage nephews and nieces for christmas. |

mmm let me think cover versions of dull eighties records by one of PWL factory output. No thanks
Although he seems like a nice guy and pretty good actor once he started apearing on stage. Please stop singing it's not what you're good at _________________ You will hear gospel and rhythm and blues and jazz, all those are just labels, we know that music is music. |

There's a glut of covers albums by long established artists - people who should know better, but I suppose times are hard and they need to keep their pension pot topped up.
We mentioned some on another thread somewhere, but, in addition to this and the recent Phil Collins Motown album, which has sold surprisingly well, and Santana's assault on some classic rock, Cliff Richard, Neil Diamond and Rod Stewart all have albums of cover material due imminently, and Annie Lennox will be inflicting an album of Christmas chestnuts upon us. _________________ Ron |

Jason Donovan was on The Wright Stuff this morning plugging it. 'Everybody Wants To Rule the World' was played and I'd like to dedicate the line 'I can't stand this indecision' to my boss, who dithered for ages over what wine to buy in Sainsbury's and got the cheapest.
I'm surprised she didn't do a Mr. Bean and mix sugar and vinegar together as on the New Year's Eve scene.
Sheryl Crow was on BBC Breakfast plugging her soul covers album. And her adopted kids (this should have been a cue for the Harry Hill singers to go 'Celebrity Foster Mum Of The Week'!). _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!
