Richard advised this morning that he is bringing back to his weekends the feature Headbangers Heaven due to popular demand.

I certainly like listening to some rousing heavy rock every now again-Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC are the sort of groups I hope to hear songs from.

I must admit I haven't heard RA since he used to do the late evening programme in about 2002. I entered one of the competitions on air, gave the wrong answer but received a stress ball with his programme details on it through the post a couple of days later. I used to use it quite frequently in my early days on the R2MB when I first encountered a certain person. Wink

Delighted that Richard has brought back (by popular demand he advised) the headbangers heaven feature to his weekends show.

Certainly some of the stories associated with this feature make me laugh.

Richard's shows still a worthy listen.

He did play the single edit of Rush's Spirit Of Radio, which must be the only Rush song available to them.

Richard hits the airwaves again in a few hours time.

Will you be listening to him live?

If not, treat yourself to listening to his weekend shows via the BBC Iplayer facilty at your leisure.

You will not be disappointed with the experience.

Allinson rocks-you bet he does.

Drive safely Mr Occomore.

Perhaps you could crank up the last part of Richard's show on the coach.

I'm sure the passengers on board would enjoy the experience.

I heard him the weekend of what would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday, reading a letter out about someone's dad having been an extra in 'Oh! What A Lovely War' or 'Adolf Hitler:My Part In His Downfall' (so the writer said).

I think they meant 'How I Won The War'. Lennon portrayed Private Gripweed in this.

I did hear the talky bit between him and Zoe. They were talking about the radio 2 trailer, and maybe an alternative to the ones which don't feature, who also pop up occasionally on high profile shows. Maybe they an't trendy enough like some who havn't appeared. Laughing

He did a good job with Early breakfast for years on Capital. Maybe he should be cover for Breakfast on Radio 2.

Yes, we don't want a mere "cover" for the breakfast show - we want a decent presenter.

You've already got a decent presenter, so there's no need to look for another one

I've got to agree at times he's a decent presenter BUT not at breakfast on R2. He was good on saturday afternoons and drivetime but I just can't cope with him, and his format etc at 7am Rolling Eyes

Richard Allinson is one of a very few people that I would turn the radio on to listen to these days. I just wish he was on at a more reasonable hour as I only hear the last half hour before someone I can't stand comes on. Please don't suggest that I get up earlier....5.30am is early enough (with a long shift ahead at work)!

What the hell is he doing on overnights? I heard some of the show overnight Saturday and he shouldn't be where he is. It seems Bob Shennan wanted him to stop being a spare part, and throw him into an overnight show. Give him either an weekend daytime show, if there isn't a weekday one.

Best tell the Controller, BBC Radio 2, Mark. I'm sure he'll listen to all reasonable suggestions.

He'll ignore them all, of course, but at least you'll have tried.

Mark O-Maybe Richard is happy with the overnights for Radio 2.

He certainly seems quite content/comfortable with his two 3 hr shows at the weekends.

I guess his Production Company work fills the rest of his time/week etc.

It is a shame though he is not used as cover for daytime presenters anymore.

Richard opened up his Sunday Show (31/10) with the excellent There's a Ghost In My House by R Dean Taylor-one of my favourite all time tracks.

Excellent work Mr Allinson.

As usual 3 hrs of great songs, features and chat.

The 3.46 club goes from strength to strength.

As long as you don't tell anyone Helen, but I have to admit I was singing along loudly (badly!) to The Monster Mash by Bobby "Boris" Picket and the Cryptkickers which Richard also played on the Sunday show.

Can't remember the last time I heard this song on Radio 2.

With Richard in the seat you certainly do get to hear a huge variety of different genres.

Agree with you Schiz both were great tracks
Of course R Dean Taylor was the first and perhaps only white artist to be signed by Tamla Motown
I think actually he was Canadian if I recall

He was. Kiki Dee was also signed by Motown, in 1970.

Thanks.

Sadly I don't and won't listen to SOTS's-the presenter and for the most part the decade does not interest me/leaves me completely cold.
