Hello everybody! Jumped ship safely and here I am, thanks to John for organising this so quickly.
Needless to say I am disappointed that it has been necessary to start this separate, private forum for the discussion of shows and their presenters, and of the more "mature" music which gets played on Radio 2 in the evenings and Sundays, since it is fairly clear that the latter will not sit easily with the Music Club format, or with (most of its) residents, as it is now or is likely to be after Dec 12th. I did post a request for a separate topic board but I think they've turned a blind and deaf'un.
Just a little about me - I'm 50+, married with one late-teen son, retired early from a financial institution and glad of it - no more stupid sales targets, stress and hair loss. My music taste and knowledge is wide but not necessarily deep - joining the Radio 2 MBs five months ago I quickly realised that many people know a lot more about some things than I do. Over the years I've listened to the old Light Programme, the offshore pirates and Radio Luxemburg at night on a tinny tranny under the pillow, then Wunderful Radio 1, now Radio 2, with odd excursions on digital up to BBC Radio Scotland for Iain Anderson and Planet Rock for Nicky Horne.
The BBC Message Boards were, and still will be, a great and highly convenient one-stop sounding board and place to pass comment. I think this is the sixth of the new forums which have been set up to cover what they no longer will that I have signed up to, and getting round them all will be a slower process. I can see that there are topics that I'll want to join in with (hopefully, I can hear you cry, at slightly shorter length!).
Don't know if I can cope with all these emoticons, though - I feel like a toddler in a sweet shop, spolit for choice. _________________ Ron |
