Britain could be under attack, not by nuclear bombs, but computer networks. High security material which is held on computers, and banks could be targeted.

This statement contains nothing new and the risk mentioned has existed for many years and probably since at least 2001
I think it is significant that the issue has arisen today only 2 days before the dreaded spending review and the oldest trick in politics is to bury bad news as was tried by Ruth Kelly during her time in the last Government.
My own view is that the whole thing may be a precursor to us having a greater level of official interference and monitoring of the internet which might be a good thing in some ways but generally could be seen as quite sinister

Mark, you're posting this as if it's news. It isn't - and you're doing exactly what they want you to do.

It's not a matter of "could" be under attack it's a case of "are" under attack. Constantly. Over 1,000 such attacks per month to government systems alone.

My view entirely. I'm fed up with all this scare-mongering by the state whose sole purpose is to tighten it's grip on individuals in the name of "national security".

Me too and I don't think we are alone. Goodness me if we all took notice of these 'threats' we would all be living in caves refusing to ever come out.

This is yet another of those pronouncements from Government agencies who are warning us of impending doom and gloom - and timing their press releases to coincide with a Government "Spending Review" which could result in their budgets being cut.

Maybe it's a way of making the cuts to "real" security i.e. soldiers, planes, helicopters and replacing them with office clerks look like there's a plan in mind ?
