For me there's only one choice
Generation Terrorists Manic Street Preachers
I played it constantly in the car for about 2 years and I still regularly go back to it now
Its all the more nostalgic for me because I used to go to their local gigs around South East Wales in the late 80s when virtually nobody had heard of them and about 15 people used to turn up
I said in those days this band was going to be big and I just wish I'd put some decent money on it! _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I remember hearing Is This It by The Strokes for the first time and just loving track after track.....not saying it's the best debut album..(so hope it's allowed on your thread,littlepieces.. ) but it certainly made an impression on me.
There was a question about it on University Challenge tonight.. |

I like the connection between the album, the band and your user name!
And yes, I love that album too. I saw them several times at around that period. |

I think Littlepieces I'm with you on this one, I still go back to it now, I'm not saying it's my favorite album (although it was for years) but certainly my favorite debut.

Patti Smith - Horses. Jesus died for someone's sins but not mine....stunning jaw dropping debut album.
The Ramones - The Ramones. Two minutes songs, no solos, no frills, just what was needed at the time.
Honourable mentions.
Steely Dan - Can't Buy A Thrill.
The Clash - The Clash.
Talking Heads - 77.
Massive Attack - Blue Lines.
Personal favourite.
The Christians - The Christians |

Although she did say the other day while listening to Spacemen 3 album Playing With Fire, you don't half listen to some Sh*^e. Everyones a critic. She'd love some more similar stuff that she wouldn't like
Now that you mention it, well I did
Sound of Confusion - Spacemen 3
Lazer Guided Melodies - Spiritualized _________________ You will hear gospel and rhythm and blues and jazz, all those are just labels, we know that music is music. |

Has anyone yet mentioned The Pretenders' self titled first album? The one that has 'Stop Your Sobbing', 'Brass In Pocket' and the original 'Private Life' (the track that Grace Jones covered) on it. That's got to be one of the best debut albums. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Indeed. I think 'Tattoed Love Boys' was another track on that first album. I remember when Stuart Maconie featured it as his 'Must have' album on his Critical List show when it was on saturday evenings. I think I still have that show on tape somewhere. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |
