Channel 4 has become embroiled in a new race row with scores of complaints to Ofcom about racist comments made on its new reality show Shipwrecked. The pre-recorded show, which launched yesterday evening, has had web forums - including the official Channel 4 site - buzzing after one of its contestants made offensive comments about black people as well as gay and fat people.
Media regulator Ofcom confirmed to MediaGuardian.co.uk this afternoon that it had received 46 complaints about the show, which pits two groups of young people against each other on two desert islands in the South Pacific.
Lucy Buchanan, an 18-year-old public schoolgirl from York, praised slavery and said she would get a black person to do her "slave work".

When are the top stars the channel have like Davina, Dermot, Noel, Paul O' Grady, Richard & Judy. Carol Voderman and Des O'conner leaving in disgust?  |
