Tonight I just happened to turn on one show...and who was glaring out? Chris Evans....... No word of him doing an extra show. Is this the BBC's way of weedling him on to our screens by the back door _________________ I like hedgehog crisps |

As I think I said on another thread he must have got inside information about me going away for a few days so he decided to come and irritate me a day early _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

We will come to love him. We will come to love him. We will come to love him. We will come to love him. We will come to love him. We will come to love him. We will come to love him. We will come to love him.
Come on you lot! Repeat the mantra.......... We will come to love him. We will come to love him.
(By the way - I've noticed that he's no longer Ginger. He's grey - or is it white? Do you think my morning text messages asking him to shut up are starting to get to him?).

Well you got used to the opposite mantra easily enough.
You've all blinkered yourselves into hating the bloke, irrespective of what he does; he could give an Olivier-esque performance as Richard III or Othello, and you'd still hate him purely because he's Chris Evans.
And no, he hasn't been ginger for some time.
I didn't catch the start of today's show and it's not available on i-player. Presumably Jason Manford was indisposed; the show proceeded as otherwise planned - I thought Chris was actually more subdued than Jason usually is.
The last two Friday shows have been much better, largely because of the calibre of guest - Michaels Caine and Parkinson; there was less reliance on the presenters to fill with chat of their own. All they need to do is ditch the stupid stunt at the end of the show and eschew the pop-bimbo type of guest (so that it would be more like the Monday to Thursday editions) and it would actually be all right.
I didn't say brilliant. All right. _________________ Ron |

Not blinkered - just fed up with (a) his irritating presence on several BBC media outlets seemingly every time I listen in, look at or watch, and (b) the sound of his over-excited, hyper-ventilating and thoroughly irritating style of delivery.
And, let's be realistic here - he couldn't give an Olivier-esque performance as Richard III or Othello if he rehearsed for years.
I don't hate him because he's Chris Evans - I just object to his being constantly thrust upon me whether I want it or not. Whilst his presence annoys the hell out me it's actually the BBC I'm more annoyed at for promoting him at all cost in an effort to squeeze every ounce of value out of his contract fee.

And I am thoroughly sick and tired of having him rammed down my ears & throat every day. No I can't do anything about his presence on radio 2 except tune out and I do and that also goes for those annoying trailers and mentions of him on other shows (presumably under orders from on high. V unfair on these other presenters, especially when I forget to switch Aled Jones back on) A challenge for the BBC. Shut up about Evans, I know he's there but I still don't want to watch or hear from him and I'm never likely to. Please can you remind me who else is on Radio 2 and when. I'd really like to know. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack.

Even worse I thought it was Friday! RockitRon, I don't think CE would be able to give any sort of serious drama credence, be honest now!
To put it in perspective; I am a football fan but am utterly fed up with the constant Rooney saga. So have to agree with Colin that it's the total over exposure, ram it down your throat scenario that most of us are fed up with.
Are there any other DJ's on Radio 2? As I only used to listen to breakfast, I wouldn't know and BBC TV only exposes the one person who makes my ears bleed.
Who will be hosting CIN - as finger hovering over remote when I see Pudsey - just in case! |

ColinB, I now have a mental image of the Greying Whinger as Richard III going 'It has been a hard...day's...night - andihavebeenworkinglikeaDOG!'
Peter Sellers also comes to my mind when I see the male/female presenter on Dickinson's Real Deal because the voice is very like Dr. Strangelove!
I keep thinking she's going to say 'You say she LUFFS you?' _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

As we've discussed elsewhere, it's a PR stunt - and people are such suckers for falling for it. |

Jason Manford's pregnant wife, 2 children, and mother-in-law have all got gastroenteritis so he had to cancel his planned appearance on The One Show and Chris Evans stepped in. Simple as that - no agenda to ram Evans down our throat.
As for being Grey - well, he seems that on telly but when I saw Evans the other day he still had a touch of ginger about him. |

Unfortunately.
Gone are the days when a variety of substitutes could be drawn upon. Evans it must now be......... Such a pity. |

Is it really any worse than the BBC who seem unable to shut up about Evans, Toggy? Why not Jason Manford's usual understudy Matt Baker on Thursday? _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

It was only a hypothesis.
But the point is valid. You are all up in arms over his deputising for Jason Manford, and yet his presentation was arguably less animated and certainly more subdued. You're condemning the man rather than, and probably before or without seeing, the performance.
Last night's One Show, which I didn't see live but watched on i-player, because I wanted to see Felicity Kendall, was back to trash TV, an embarassment for all concerned, but that's the fault of whoever plans the content - how much input does he have?
I don't normally watch Eggheads but, funnily enough, caught this little gem last night: in answer to the question "Who presented the 1990s TV show Don't Forget Your Toothbrush?" one of last night's challenging team, a 64-year old retired local government officer, answered,
"I know this, he's a guy I like an awful lot..." (2mins 30 into i-player)
JV looked quite surprised as well. _________________ Ron |

Not worse but just as bad and just as pointless and just as tiresome. The thing about the tv is it has an off button and other buttons whereby you can change the channel. Sadly no such thing exists here. |

Hopefully in the near future, St C of Evans will have so many irons in the fire and so many places to be in, that he will forget where he is supposed to be and not turn up at all. |

It's irrelevant. The fact is that it was his silly face and his irritating voice that were on the show. That's a good enough reason to complain. |

Rooney's been flashing his wealth like Marie Antoinette in the Mirror lately - all they needed was a heading saying 'Let Them Eat Cake'!
And don't get me started on Prince Harry and Kate Middleton - how is it the majority of us cannot get jobs for money reasons and yet the powers that be can afford some royal wedding? _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!
