Oh no.. Bruce is King for me.. Doddery though he might be, he's still the tops!
Yes, the Sunday format is terrible and needs to be changed.

I've always been a Bruce defender Santa Fe, but for the first ever on Saturday night, I did feel a bit uncomfortable watching him.

One of the things he does which I've noticed a lot already is he'll make a joke and usually get a laugh because people aren't daft and they'll get the joke as a 'one liner' on the first hit. Can't think of any examples off the top of my head but it's quite a common occurrence.

He'll come out with something funny - the audience get it and laugh - they pick up where it's going before it gets there if you like. But after the laugh and because it's scripted he insists on reading the damn punchline and the whole thing falls flat. You've got the laugh Bruce - leave it!

Difficult to explain in words (and probably haven't done so very well Confused ) but if you watch the show you'll know what I mean hopefully.

Yes, the new Sunday night show is a disarstar!

It NEEDS the dance off, otherwise we'll be stuck with Ann or Paul at the end.

I have never liked the rumba, .just seems a lot of faffin' about to my eye, but Pamela changed that last night with her performance ...she really is good and I can see her winning this ...she has such a natural rhythm! Peter's hard work paid off and there was definitely an improvement this week ...Kara,Matt, and Scott all danced lovely quicksteps ..hard to pick one out of them.....and Ann ..what can you say??....

Don't think Michelle will be staying that long but think Paul will be dancing the last waltz tonight...

I thought Michelle looked as if she wished she wasn't there.

Kara, Matt and Scott, all so impressive. In MY eyes they don't need any improvement at all.

Ann, it was funny at first, now I find it embarrassing. And thosw awful dresses Sad

This is a 'woman' thing lol - but didn't think that dress last night did Pamela any favours, but watching ITT in the week they had a feature on the costumes, and they are made months in advance - fittings taken in the summer - and then adjusted to fit as the dancers lose weight, as many of them do. Unfortunately all that ruched fabric made her look chunky again, when she has clearly lost a shedload of weight since she started. All that aside she really is a natural dancer, and I have to say, the more I read about her, the things she has done and her attitude to life the more I like her. A fantastic advert for women of a certain age, as is Felicity Kendall. Sixty four years old and doing the splits and allsorts Shocked Wasn't she amazing?

As far as the younger women are concerned, Michelle truly is hopeless, not helped by her attitude. In the very first week, when interviewed she said 'all the others know we are the ones to beat' - oh dear, oh dear. For that entire dance she had her shoulders up around her ears (which the judges didn't mention even though it was glaring and I can't help thinking they were told to go easy on her). Even so, that poor me, rather sulky attitude gets right on my wick. When compared to the other women, even Ann, who I know isn't everyone's cup of tea, but there's not a jot of self pity there she just gets on with it. Amazing to think her brother died this week, no mention to it, no reference, she just went out and did her dance, and this time - the legs and feet only it must be said Laughing - she did actually dance a bit with proper steps and a bit of movement, rather than just clomping about.

My favourites are Pam and Matt, although I've got a bit of a soft spot for Patsy Kensit as well - not quite sure why. I'd like to see her go a bit further.

Only thing I didn't understand last night was the criticism and marking of Jimmy. I thought his dance was great - ok, so his movements were a bit jerky in places, but there was a lot of good stuff in there as well, and the judges really seemed to put a downer on it. I really like him and he's got fantastic rhythm. Made me laugh when he said they had been planning for him to take his shirt off, but they decided not to because he didn't want to 'show Gav up'!!

Yes Peter was much much better and I honestly think Gavin can dance and could be much better if he could only get over the inhibitions. He is so self conscious and seems completely unable to get into the emotion/acting side of things. This is another plus in Pamela's dancing, she acts it so beautifully - almost with her body, if that makes any sense. Scott is also amazing, but for whatever reason I can't take to Natalie, fantastic dancer though she is. It all seems a bit clinical, but they were still fab.

Lots of good and improved performances last night - I know who's gone as I sneaked on DS and read the spoiler thread, but I won't spill the beans. Very Happy

I agree with you re the marking on Jimmy, but reminded myself that it doesn't really matter what the judges think, as it's the public votes that count.
I've often wondered why we don't get to hear exactly how many people voted for whom. It would be interesting.

What was so wrong with his dance Fly that they were going on about? I've watched it again on iplayer and he's got the lot - the attitude, the timing, the hip movement, the likeability and performance aspect of it. Agreed, some of the arm movements were a bit jerky, but apart from that he was great?

Instead of just talking about that they were saying how 'odd' the whole thing was 'something peculiar going on with his upper half and lower half working independently of each other? and it was 'wasn't working' and all that - I couldn't make it out.

Neither could I, SS and I hadn't even noticed the jerky arm movements. Maybe he'd upset them some time during the day!!
They do have their favourites, don't they?
I've never voted, but I'll see what happens next week and if they're still so negative, I'll vote for Jimmy.

(That'll teach 'em Laughing )

I hate knowing the result before I watch it.....from the look of it someone has posted a spoiler on the BBC messageboard and yet it has been clearly stated on there people even hate having an inkling of the loser before they watch the results show....

I can't understand why they have changed it back to Sunday.... Twisted Evil

Hi Becky Very Happy
It used to be much more of a show. I miss the dance-offs and the professional dancers.
Now all we get is the results.

Although very physical and clever, I didn't like the feature dance tonight much but it was my favourite... Flavia! Razz Razz

I wish they would alter the lighting when Claudia is on camera.. her eyes look terrifying!

Hi Fly...Very Happy

I loved the Charleston routine tonight but agree with Santa about Flavia's routine...awful...

The right one went tonight, putting to one side that Ann is one on her own... Wink

I expect it'll be Michelle next week.

Why does Felicity do so much gurning? Is she that nervous?

Oh dear, I seem to do nothing but criticise, but actually I'm envious of all of them. My dancing would be more like Ann's than anybody's, I think. Confused

Yep that's why I like her Wink

I hope that Ann isn't in it for much longer other wise the show'll rapidly become any other voting show where the "characters" stay in rather than the talent. Then again it likely to happen now the dance off has been pulled.
Another awful Sunday show except the already talked about dance my Flavia

I watched a documentary online last night about the making of 'Gone With the Wind'. Seeing the actress Olivia De Havilland (who played Melanie) being interviewed - Kara Tointon is her absolute spitting image! The way she laughs, her mouth, everything about her (obviously not the accent). I'm not sure pictures show the resemblance as much as actually seeing her being interviewed, but here's an image anyway:

She does have a look of her,Sis...you might be interested to know..if you don't already ....who one of her (de Havilland) cousins was....

Whenever I hear Kara talking she sounds like someone else who's famous and it's driving me potty because I can't think who it is.....

Anyone watch ITT?

Patsy's Charleston is looking brilliant in rehearsals - really, really good , but once again, when interviewed she talks herself down all the time and says she'll come out and 'get it wrong'. Drives me nuts!! She's nowhere near the worst dancer. Just get out there and dance!

Loved Scott and Natalie's tango...does anyone know what the music was they danced to? And Matt and Aliona's charleston was great fun ...liked both dances equally. Pamela still did well but didn't shine quite as brightly this week.
The pantomime season is well under way with Ann and Anton.... Shocked and I'm sure we'll be seeing her again next week....Peter took a few steps backward and unless he has a solid fan base who vote for him every week regardless he will,I think, be the one to go tonight...
Gavin!! ..after me thinking he has a shyness about him...has now shown he is a bighead who loves himself and I wouldn't be sorry to see him go....

Ah, Nod, we all know what the show is: whoever is most popular with the viewers wins. Nothing to do with their ability to dance.

I loved Scott's tango and the music was terrific, where did they find that?
