On my portable DAB radio this morning (only BBC Radio channels available in my area Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad ) The great one was interviewing Michael Buble, did i actually get to hear anything about Mr Buble. Answer = No. However, I and I am sure Mr Buble were very interested to know about Chris' house in Hollywood (Lionel Ritchie owned it apparently) what street it was in what the view was like, how to get their, Chris's favourite Queen Track, what Chris wanted played at his funeral and why...... I'm sure Mr Buble was left wondering why he had been invited, likewise so was I. Rolling Eyes

Personally I'd sooner have the real Frank Sinatra albums

... I liken it to a car crash, you can't help but look Embarassed I channel hop all the time in the mornings and am ever the optimist Rolling Eyes I quite like Michael Buble and so stayed tuned in. It was a wonderful example of self-promotion, absolutely classic all Mr Buble managed to say was "really", "gosh", "wow" "no way" .............

The boasting, been there, done that, bought this, own that thing is the one very reason I cannot bear to listen to Mr Evans.

I think Buble is great and I thought he came out of this morning's show really well. Evans on the other hand was just embarrassing.

Two comments. I think Michael Buble is an excelent singer.
Secondly, oldgreymare- I am surprised only BBC Radio stations are available on DAB in your area. Here in london all the main stations are plus several DAB only.
I do think there should be more variety on DAB. The range of music covered is quite narrow. There should be at least one station which does the sort of thing MELODY used to. And at least one which covers country/ blues/ folk/ roots music.
I am fully DAB's up- (tho my personal DAB radio has stopped working. May need to get another)- but till coverage is more universal, & there is significantly more choice I don't think it will achieve the extent of take up the powers that be wish

I can assure you that is all we get. You are very lucky! There is no coverage in my village and not likely to be either from looking on the DAB website. Radio 4 and 3 is my only alternative option for early mornings on my DAB. Shaun on Radio 6 is okay but the music is dreadful and not to my taste and Radio 7 has CBB's. Crying or Very sad not much choice for my investment in three DAB's. By the way why does Radio 5 have so many optional channels? and such low rajar audience figures, absolute waste - give one of them to Radio 2 as an Xtra Confused .

DAB outside the metropolitan areas is absolutely appalling. Let's be honest, it's a totally inadequate technology that was introduced in order that bandwidth could be freed up for commercial applications as quickly as possible without proper consideration as to whether or not the whole country could be properly served (much like Freeview, as well).

DAB's compressed stream is highly directional, uses very high frequencies and has great difficulty permeating the range of structural materials that FM and AM finds easy. As for listening to DAB whilst on the road in the regions - forget it!

I'm glad that the current Cameron+Clegg Tory government has reversed the plan for a nationwide switch-off of FM within 5 years. Mind you, they'd have faced a revolt if they hadn't!

It's all ridiculous.

Well it's not entirely true that DAB is confined to metropolitan areas. I'm deep in rural Essex and have no trouble getting lots (I don't know about all) DAB stations.

Can either of you receive DAB (all stations, all options) consistently and reliably in a moving vehicle? I'll put money on it that you can't!

I can't 'cause I haven't got a DAB radio in the car... but i have got a CD player on hold for when Radio 2 has nothing to offer...
I wish I could get Internet radio on my car! in fact, because it's an American vehicle it has a satellite receiver on the boot but it's not for Europe...

I had an idea that would be the case, and that's my point really. Lots of people might find their DAB reception OK in a fixed situation, but it's only when they put a DAB receiver into their cars that they realise just how useless it is.

The whole campaign to push us all onto DAB is scandalous!
