| Over the next three night Radio 2 will present the Electric Proms at the Round House. Sir Elton John opens it up this evening ( Thursday ). The Robert Plant on Friday, followed by Neil Diamond on Saturday. Simon Mayo will be hosting the build up show until 8pm, and on Saturday 6-8pm. |

......And bloomin' Evans has to pop up AGAIN!! Is there anything that bloke wont do on the BBC?

The BBC is determined to get value out of him, that's for sure. The fact that it's annoying the hell out of so many people doesn't seem to figure at all! |

Did someone not tell Jo and him they were both on. It sounded like they were surprised it was 8pm and live.  Chris is only hosting it for one night. |

| I must be wrong. Chris is hosting all nights alongside Jo. Chris thought he had to go to the proms announce the act , and off after an hour. He booked a table for his wife and mates in a resturant for 9.15pm, but had to stay on to the end. So he never got to the table at 11.35pm. He got to the hotel bed at 1.45am, and got into Radio 2 - two minutes before the start of his show. Aled played Tracy Chapman - Fast Car at the end of his early show. Lucky Chris has his team to prepare his show. He's got it easy. |

| The fact they brought Chris in for the coverage of this much-hyped event shows how little faith they have in Jo Whiley to do the one job they've hired her for. I think that's more telling than Evans having to "pop up again" |

I think they're having problems finding a new niche for Jo Whiley and it seems to me that the Electric Proms just isn't the right gig for her. The fact that Evans was co-opted onto the shows indicates that he'll do anything to get his face featured and - unlike Jo Whiley - he'll open his gob even when he has little to say.
I hope Jo finds her new feet in a post-Radio One existence because I like her. |

I enjoyed the extended Drivetime, contrary to my expectations. Switched off after though as not a huge live gig fan on radio unless I REALLY like the artist.

I always found Jo Whiley to be one of those trying to be "too cool for school" types. Plus the fact that she doesn't know nearly as much as she thinks she does. I personally don't feel she's right for R2. However under Bob Shennan's leadership I think that applies to a lot of the presenters and content

Seriously? Give it a rest. Jo Whiley has been hired to present the Thursday In Concerts, but if there's ever a big name the bosses bring in Johnnie Walker or Chris Evans to help her out because she's plainly not up to the job. If you're saying Evans will do anything to get his face featured you must concede that Walker does the same.
And when it comes to talking with little to say few people beat Jo Whiley! |

| I think Jo Whiley is upto presenting live gigs. She's been doing this for years. They bring in Chris Evans to present on the station, because he's Radio 2, Jo is Radio 1 and only hosting live concerts on Thursdays. Thats all. I think Jo would be great hosting a show for likes of Dermot, or a late show at the weekends on Radio 2. |

| I'm too enjoying Drivetime. Pleased to hear it on Saturday instead of Alan Carr, but I bet he will appear somewhere in the bar, like Bob Harris did on Thursday. |

That's not the point. The point is that it could have been a good Radio 2 presenter, but they chose (yet again, dear friends) to use the gobby one. Him and Whiley co-presenting is a total mis-match. |

I thought exactly the same Ian but I'll suffer my penance tonight as I'm going to Leicester on Sunday to see the Manic Street Preachers for the third time on their tour
I've already been to see them in Liverpool and Newport
Its a fantastic show lasting four hours with British Sea Power in support and an all girl semi punk band who for all the world remind me of the GoGo s around 1990

If we do hear Alan Carr, at least his squawking will be limited to short bursts. This will be the first time I've been able to tune into Radio 2 at 6PM on a Saturday for ages.
I heard half an hour of Plant before going out last night. Fabulous!  I'll have to Listen Again! |
