Great interview with Keith Richards on the Culture Show...could have done with a couple more hours of it....interspersed with some of the biggest hits of the Rolling Stones....fabulous....loved every minute of it.

Yes it was a fabulous programme / interview. Keef was much more lucid than I thought he might be (perhaps we all believe the stereotypical portrayals too much) and came across very well. I've always considered him to be the main songwriter of the band and he seems modest about that.

I was shocked that he and Mick were originally sentenced to such a long time (a year?) after the infamous drugs bust at his house in 1967.
The Establishment certainly still ruled, even in the 60s. Thank God for William Rees Mogg, editor of The Times, who more or less got the sentence reduced ('who breaks a butterfly on a wheel?).
Perhaps Keef should have referred to that in the interview.

There's something very un-nerving about seeing the words "Keith Richard" and "Culture" in the same sentence. He's a flippin' rock 'n roll guitarist (albeit a bloody good one!) for chrissakes!

Yes I agree,Schizoidman, he came across very well and good to see the music is all to him, still.... Cool

I know, but I just can't equate the rough & ready rock band I used to see live in the early 70s with being aspects of today's "culture". I'm not knocking the band or their achievements at all (I love the Stones and they're the finest rock band I've ever seen) but the word "culture" just doesn't fit for me!
