Cool beans! I spent ages downloading that site through my Dongle, thinking oi! they've stolen my idea! But it turns out to be a different Chris Evans. I should have realised, Captain America with a UK regional accent, nah.  |

Chris Evans (the Actor) seems quite content to play similar comic/ sci-fi roles, then again if it pays 
I'm a comic film fan so am looking forward to this although the independent comics that get made into films seem to be much better these days.
Forced myself to watch Watchmen again over the weekend ( any excuse)

Going by the photos looks like (logically) they are doing the first incarnation of Captain America which was a WWII character.
I'm very familiar with the 1960s re-incarnation of Captain America when he was with Thor et al in the Avengers. I am/was a bit of a Marvel mags freak though now I have only held on to, and added to, my very extensive Dr Strange collection.
I gave all my other comics to my nephew thirty years ago - he now runs one of the top comic/games shops in Scotland!

Never had you down for a comic geek John! 
I'm catching up with the current Captain America comic series and it's a great read, they've really managed to re-invent the character for a world where, frankly, USA ain't that popular. It's very absorbing - they even killed him off a couple of years ago (naturally, he came back).
As for the film - yes, it's set during WWII and is from the director of The Rocketeer, another WWII comic film. They got Manchester and Liverpool to stand in for 1940s New York and I believe a lot of the plot sees Cap fighting Nazi offshoots in Europe. He'll be joining up with Thor, Iron Man and Hulk in the follow-up film, The Avengers due in 2012. |

I think the Rocketeer is a very under rated comic film along with The Shadow, both didn't do that well at the box office but i enjoyed both

I used to be a big Marvel Comics fan. The Incredible Hulk (in later years The Savage She hulk!) The Silver Surfer & a few others. Great artwork. Was it Stan Lee? I long since lost all those comics.
I used to like the more sublime Casper the Friendly Ghost comics, too.
Which comic was The Thing in?? You know, the guy made out of bricks? |

Yep, Mad is still going, up to issue 505 at the moment.

The artwork in the 60s was by Jack Kirby (Stan Lee was the writer), and then John Buscema and John Romita Sr were the classic artists throughout the late 60s and 70s. The Thing is a member of Fantastic Four, as was The Sensational She-Hulk at one point. |

Ah, that's it, the Fantastic four. was that DC or was that also Marvel? Mind you, if she Hulk was in it, it must have been Marvel. She later had her own comic book!

She-Hulk still has her own comic! It's been through a few guises, but the best version was in the early 90s.
Fantastic Four are currently up to Issue 586, although Captain America's on #613, Hulk's at #619 and Amazing Spider-Man has reached #651!
As for where you'd buy Mad... try your local comic store? I get all mine via Mail Order from Ace Comics but look for one near you at http://www.comicshops.co.uk/ (not sure how up-to-date that is). |

I have about 400 comics featuring Dr Strange but he's had a few separate series and he's in most of the Defenders comics too, and I have most of the other occasional titles where he featured as a guest, e.g. with Avengers, Thor, X-men etc and some annuals.
Having such a large collection spanning 5 decades it's fascinating seeing the trends in artwork and changes when the 'comic code' changed.
Steve Ditko's art was the inspiration for so many. He did some of the first series of Dr Strange and also Spiderman for much longer.
Jonathon Ross is a comic geek and I recall a TV programme by him in New York where he managed to blag his way to meeting Ditko though we didn't see Ditko on camera.
