I listen to an hour or so of Aled on Early Breakfast and he mentions famous birthdays and plays a track by one or two of them.
Maybe we could mention someone who has a birthday and list a track of theirs?
2 of today's are John Barry (77) and Lulu (62)
Carly Simon's 'Nobody Does It Better' was Aled's choice and a good one.

I have to say I didn't know this already, I just Googlied it for fun but,
Spookily, it's these two artistes Birthdays today and I've always associated these two tracks with each other..
Minnie Ripperton, 1947 Chicago, (Loving You)
Rickie Lee Jones, 1954 Chicago, (Chuck E's in Love)
Both from Chicago too!
And, this fellow
Roy Wood, 1945, Birmingham England,
As for a track, I think I'd go for "See My Baby Jive" 'cause I love it! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Love that song, a band called the Orb sampled it in one of their songs and it got me into it, what a voice. Although I would imagine you either love it or hate it _________________ You will hear gospel and rhythm and blues and jazz, all those are just labels, we know that music is music. |

Vicki Blight also played Neil Young's 'Don't Let It Bring You Down' on the Rockbook Files spot (6 Music)!
As far as I know she hasn't played Jackie Lee's 'Rupert'! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

Am I right in thinking that Andy Partridge has or had a problem with getting stagefright and had to give up live performances
If so does anyone know whether he got over it and went back to doing live gigs? _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

yes think you were right ruddles and that he had some sort of breakdown. Johnnie W played "Nigel" last sun and said that Andy's Mum always wrote and thanked him whenever he played an XTC track way back when so he said hello to her. |

Undi XTC released some dozen albums between 1978 and 2000, and a couple as their alter ego Dukes Of The Stratosphear, there have been some oddities and instrumental albums since 2000 but no full blown studio album.
I believe Messrs Partridge and Moulding aren't the best of chums at the moment, shame as they've made some cracking music over the years.
The first single Science Friction got me hooked...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Esf-SHzYHyA
And any mention of XTC has to include the wonderful Dear God
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hk41Gbjljfo
Oh yeah! White Music is a superb debut album, go on Spotify it |

Whilst going a little off topic I thought I would just mention that I am about to set off for a surprise party for my Uncle Bert who reached the grand old age of 100 today the first person in my family to achieve this milestone
The only slight problem is what do you buy for someone of that age who doesn't smoke drink or drive and has difficulty reading print
I decided to go for the music option and got my hands on a CD set of Handel's Messiah performed by the Huddersfield Choral Society which I hope will be enjoyable
See you all later if I am still awake and sufficiently sober _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |
