There seems to be no local news on BBC Breakfast News at the moment.

Does this mean we'll get Batman repeats at 6.30 pm, like in the case of TV-AM when the camera crew struck?

It wasn't the camera crew, it was all technicians and a lot of production staff too. I was a member of ACTT at the time! Smile

Anyhow, a 2-day national BBC NUJ dispute isn't a good enough excuse to bring Roland Rat back from the grave.

Personally, I thought this morning's BBC news was a better job; presented by one person with no squirming, sickly couch action!

God I'm grumpy! Laughing

ACTT, that takes me back Colin. When I worked in HR at GTV the principal unions were ACTT, NATTKE and ETU. The NUJ were quite a small faction then. The combined unions (driven by ACTT which had all the muscle) negotiated an agreement where every time the cost of living rose, their salaries rose in accordance, so we were implementing salary increases every three months. This was in addition to the general level of increase negotiated annually, and the length of service increments that were due on anniversary dates of joining, up to about seven years service. Those were the days, hey? Winter of discontent? What discontent? Shocked

It was for me. I was on short, fixed-term freelance contracts and ACTT was really helpful in getting T&C's changed for the better.

Mind you, Alan Sapper was skipper in those days!!!

If I recall correctly (I was the administrator for freelance contracts) a 3 month contract for ACTT staff attracted a 25% uplift on the annual rate, whilst six month attracted 20%. I'm going back 30 odd years here, and I can't even remember where I put my glasses half an hour ago. Shocked

Were you at Soho Square? I joined in June 1977 but left at around the time of the merger with BECTU.

No I was at the studios in Manchester, bottom of Quay St. Head office was at 36 Golden Square in London. I left in November 1977.
