Due to the strike at the BBC this programme was aired on Five Live and thoroughly enjoyable it was too ....includes a very poignant interview with Harry Gregg
Stuart Hall's Archive Box..... with the likes of Bill Shankly,Brian Clough,Dixie Dean ( who was only spoken to once, in his career, by a referee and that was to ask him if he would like a peppermint..it was a hot day!! ) and Alex Ferguson, to name but a few....

I really like Stuart Hall's wicked sense of humour especially when doing football coverage on radio
Used to love it when he did Look North the predecessor to North West Tonight and he was far superior to the two current presenters we are stuck with who seem far too smug for my liking
Stuart's written quite a number of books over the years and I would imagine they would make compulsive reading
He's a great British institution and long may he continue _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Here he comes marching out like Julius Cesaer etc etc
at least he makes the effort unlike some of the duller ones, I think he should get a live match on tv he'd be great _________________ You will hear gospel and rhythm and blues and jazz, all those are just labels, we know that music is music. |

It's the same with all the BBC regions. In the good olde days they were more autonomous in their regional opt-out content, but today there's this boring national branding imposed upon them all to the extent that all BBC regional output looks and sounds the same as other regions. We watch BBC East (Western Sub-Opt) and when I visit my folks in Plymouth the "Spotlight" show has the same image, music, studio set..... and smug presenters. |

I have enjoyed listening to some previously missed recordings on Radio 4 today. Much more interesting that all the newsy type programmes. They can strike for as long as they like as far as I am concerned. _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |
