If a by election follows the disgraceful ousting by the courts of the elected representative Phil Woolas, I wonder if Elwyn Watkins, the Lib Dem candidate who appears to be a supporter of Islamist militants, will stand again for the seat?
Mr Watkins, in his efforts to woo the Muslim voters, had made an alliance with the Muslim Public Affairs Committee & had made his hatred of Israel plain in public speeches & in leaflets.
Is it ok for a candidate to support extremism & racism but not OK to point this out? This is what this ruling seems to signify
Also why are we not allowed to point out that the Muslim Lobby effectively dictates Lib Dem policy & hence influences government policy?

http://richardmillett.wordpress.com/2010/11/05/phil-woolas-needs-to-fight-this-judgment/

The election in Oldham East and Saddleworth itself was complicated by the sinister presence of MPAC (Muslim Public Affairs Committee) which had a hit list of “Zionist” MPs whose opponents it supported. One of those on the hit list, Lee Scott of Ilford North, received death threats.

In the 2005 elections the Liberal Democrats directly benefitted when MPAC spread rumours that Lorna Fitzsimons of Labour was Jewish. She wasn’t but she lost her Rochdale seat by a mere 442 votes, very possibly because of this Jewish “slur”.

MPAC seems to have little care or interest for the United Kingdom as a whole. It is a wholly pro-Muslim/anti-Israel outfit which interferes in elections using the highly intimidating tactic of labelling its opponents pejoratively either as “Jewish” or “Zionist” in the hope of whipping up an unsavioury atmosphere in Britain.

The headline on its website today reads “Election 2010 Success: FOUR Zionists Taken Out by MPACUK”.

The article reads:

MPACUK have taken another scalp – this time of the infamous electoral cheat and, ironically, the former Minister for Race Relations, Phil Woolas.

For all those Muslims who think you can’t make a change, here’s proof you can. For all those Muslims who think democracy doesn’t work, here’s proof it does. For all those Muslims who said Woolas would never lose, here’s proof he did. And for all those Muslims who joined us in the fight and thought we had lost, here’s proof that we won.

We targeted six Zionist, pro-War and Islamophobic MP’s in the 2010 general election. Here’s a list of our scalps:

------
MPAC have made it plain that they are in a campaign to target & oust Jewish MPs & are celebrating their success. They also make plain their support of & alliance with the Liberal democrat Party.
This is far more alarming than alleged exageration by Labour MP Woolas

The Lib Dem & their Islamist allies are forever talking about the supposed Jewish Lobby in Britain. There is no effective Jewish lobby in the UK as government hostility to Israel & Jewish interests in Britain proves.
Yet there is obviously a very succesful MUSLIM LOBBY- but we now know that any MP who dares to point this out will be slung out of parliament by the courts- themselves in awe of The Muslim Lobby

Clive I agree completely with what you say about the Muslim lobby and I think there should be a very severe clampdown in this country on the activities of these Muslim extremists
I think people who hold views like ours have to box clever which is what Mr Woolass singularly failed to do
I really hope the previous Lib Dem candidate does not stand again but I suspect he will but as I have already said on another thread I think the electors will be more concerned about the Lib Dems U turn on major issues rather than whatever mistakes the former Labour candidate might have made
There has been a pro muslim lobby in this country for many years now and whilst I am not myself Jewish I have many Jewish friends and I know some of them are very worried about the way things are going
I gather that Mr Woolass can stand again after three years so perhaps he will though probably not as a Labour candidate

I agree, Ruddles, that if the Lib Dems get an electoral drubbing in Oldham East it will be to do with their U turns on their election pledges.
It is the bread & butter issues that really motivate the electorate.
I suspect that Woolas was trying to hit back at the dirty tactics of his opponent but he did not play his hand well.
A public debate would have been good where Woolas could have challenged Watkins to publicly dissociate himself from MPAC.
Of all the more influential bodies purporting to represent Muslims in Britain, I feel the MPAC are the most sinister & extreme.
The Muslim Association of Britain present themselves as moderate, but are part of the extremist Muslim Brotherhood.
I think the last Labour government genuinely did attempt to work with moderates in the Muslim coto fight mmunity against extremism & radicalisation, but often the figures they picked from the Muslim community were not real representatives & a number were themselves extremists masquerading as moderates

Clive I think part of the problem is that those Muslims who describe themselves as moderate and probably genuinely are by Muslim standards still seem quite extreme to non Muslims so it can be hard to tell who we should be talking to
After all when you see so called moderates parading through British cities burning books it hardly engenders very much confidence
I really couldn't see Christians or Jews being allowed to do that in Iran

Yes but those muslims who class themselves as moderate are not the ones buring books.

Why does this always come down to it wouldn't happen in Iran/ Saudi etc.
Freedom of speech is an important way of life for us, it is not over there. It makes Britain a better place to live and long may it continue

Yes but with freedom comes responsibility
There is also the issue of behaving in such a way so as not to offend the indigenous population of your adopted nation
I'm sick and tired of traditional British life being ruined by the do gooders pandering to all kinds of minorities who do have rights but should learn to exercise them responsibly in a way that does not outrage the majority
