Great news.

Good to see Richard getting some cover work again.

Hope this stint is longer than 1 week.

Mark can't you read the message board. There is a thread open up about this. Also covering the following week according to the RT. I can't see him taking over the show. I reckon it could be Vanassa Feltz Laughing

Thank you Margaret!

The story is that a bloke who flies helicopters for a living gets engaged to a bird whose parents run a mail-order business. Oh, and the bloke is a member of a very rich and powerful family, as it happens.

That's been the only bit of news on this matter all week - everything else has been completely silly speculation.

I rejoiceth not.

I may be wrong, but I strongly suspect MiS was being slightly sarcastic about the earth shaking news that Mr woolly jumper is covering for the master - again... Razz

Looking forward to hearing Richard on the early breakfast show shortly (for the next 2 weeks at least)

Will he introduce any of his regular weekend shows features-eg headbangers heaven would wake a few folk up I'm sure at that time of day!

The good news is that he will be back on weekend duties next week as well.

Allinson rocks.

It would certainly wake them up Mark but it might be useful in preparing the audience for all the shouting scheduled to begin at 6.30am
In so far as that is possible Confused

Looks like Richard Allinson is working 7 days a week for BBC Radio 2 for a while.

My late mother used to tell me often "there is so such thing as too much Allinson"-how right she was.

Richard is doing a great job on the early breakfast show. Really enjoying the music played.

Quick question-Richard is doing a regular newspaper review on the show.

I thought I had read elsewhere that this feature was dropped from the Sarah Kennedy Show when the show moved to a 5am start.

The show belongs to whoever until January. Yes Richard is doing the front and back pages. The feature is also on The Chris Evans Breakfast show.

Richard should have been given the early breakfast show on a permanent basis.

Has Vanessa Feltz any clue about music-I guess under the current management that doesn't matter.

I think it's a positive advantage not to know anything about music under the current R2 regime. It's more important to have a gob - and to use it even when there's little of interest to be said.

The days when Radio 1 DJ's used to come in a prepare show hours inadvance has gone. I won't say all Radio2 DJ's don't continue with this practice. The music is already loaded up and the staff get the material ready for them now. Radio has moved on now. 10 minutes in before the show starts then leave straight afterwards.

All it is now is read the papers for a few stories to read out, look at the schedules so you can read them out and then think of a topic (or 2) for the great masses to text in to......job done......then repeat endlessly for 100's of shows Rolling Eyes

I can put up with all of that so long as the presenter has a nice voice to listen to and they don't talk over the music.

And which "morning" show would be the point of reference here? If your answer is "the breakfast show" you'll be providing the wrong answer, for sure!

According to the schedules it looks like the coming week (w/c 13/12) is Richard's last on the Early Breakfast Show.

The following week Lynn Parsons is covering.

Today's Early Breakfast Show covered by Richard was his last in his recent stint. Have thoroughly enjoyed listening to Richard these past few weeks.

Lynn Parsons takes over from Monday 20th December for a while.
