.... is just about watchable with its two new regular Monday to Thursday presenters who, I think, will manage to recapture some of the atmosphere generated by its two recently-departed presenters (Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley). They've hit the ground running this week and have coped well.
However, Friday's "The One Show" is now a no-go area for me given that a certain irritating pillock called Evans has now muscled his way onto the screen.
I saw the first minute of it tonight (by accident) which was enough to confirm to me that his presentation style is totally and utterly inappropriate for the show. In fact, it's cringeworthy. His well-honed "me, me, me - please look at me" style makes him look the complete prat that he of course is.
So I won't be watching The One Show on Fridays any more! |

It's early days, of course, but Jason Manford looks like the fish out of water he understandably is, and Alex Jones doesn't look exactly comfortable beside him. Pam turning up late the other day didn't help matters.
She did look more at ease tonight, which must have taken some doing in the posh frock she was wearing. Evans enjoyed it...
He was himself... no-one got a word in edgeways.
I thought that the idea of bringing Chris in to do Friday was that it was going to be a "special" one-hour long show to start the weekend. Perhaps that's to come.
The thing should have been strangled at birth - remember how dire it was in the first few weeks with Nadia Sawalha? - but as a 21st century cheap teatime magazine alternative to ITV's Emmerdale I suppose it could be worse (they could have exhumed Nationwide) _________________ Ron |

I watched about 15 minutes out of curiosity. I don't normally watch The One Show unless by accident, so I've no idea whether it's better or worse than it was before. I just thought Chris Evans looked like a hyperactive child. Anytime he's not talking he's bouncing around obviously trying to get back in to monopolise the conversation. I thought he looked uneasy, uncomfortable and he couldn't stop himself from shouting at every available opportunity.
I flipped back to catch the next programme and I see he was dressed as a pea.
Whatever!
Won't be tuning in again any time soon. _________________ Minx

We never watched it with the old crowd and we won't watch with the new crowd- no mater how much it gets plugged on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show. 7pm is Channel 4 News ... and nothing is better than the Jon and Krish tie competition.... |

He was way too hyperactive, and talked to much (about himself, as usual). I only tuned in for Doctor Who coverage but all I learnt was that a) Matt Smith has been to Chris Evans house but doesn't remember; and b) Karen Gillan and Matt Smith kissed each other in a story that was filmed one year ago and broadcast four months ago. God help us if we viewers want to learn anything new.
Incidentally, Matt & Karen were apparently last-minute guests after the production team failed to secure any big names for Evans debut.

You can see why Adrian Chiles was pissed off - Evans did nothing here that Chiles could do (only Chiles would do it better). When your bosses bring in someone to do the exact same job as you, it's quite a kick in the teeth. How the BBC thought Chiles would be happy with that, I have no idea.
Anyway... ratings!
Manford's first show got 4.5m, while Evans got 3.9m, matching Manford's lowest (to date) on Wednesday. Ratings for the last few months have been pretty unaffected by the offscreen shenanigans. |

I think Alex Jones should demand a set of earplugs for use on Fridays, and, by the look of that decor, a pair of sunglasses! I just couldn't bring myself to watch on Friday (sorry Alex) but Monday-Thursday Jason Manford & Alex Jones seem to be a good replacement for Adrian & Christine. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

In other words, same Chris Evans. It's a pity that senior BBC executives are obviously blind to it. They really have to be desperate to be pushing Evans so intently across all major outlets.

Isn't it a case of 'any excuse is better than none?' I think they are kidding themselves. Personally I would rather sit with my head in a bucket of porridge than listen to the creep, never mind watch him. _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

When Adrian & Christine were hosting The One Show it was fun, sometimes funny. Likewise, Monday-Thursday with Jason & Alex.
But Friday's sounded stupid. It seems, from that article that I was right to give it a miss. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I think that what made the show work was Adrian Chiles' laconic, self-depracatory style and Christine's girl-next-door balance. I think Jason and Alex will be able to develop a similar rapport as Adrian and Christine but I just cannot see how Evans can ever fit, given that he's totally self-centred and simply does not do "self-depracatory" in any shape or form.
He's the wrong choice for this show and one wonders why he was parachuted in by management in the well-pubicised manner. It must be that they're building him up for his own primetime TV chat/entertainment show. Heaven knows why. |

After another week, it seems Jason & Alex's episodes are averaging about a million more viewers than Chris Evans. However, the share is the same all week, because there really are fewer people watching TV on Fridays. |

Right, a few weeks on and ratings seem to have leveled at around 4.5m for Jason & Alex, and 3.9m for Chris & Alex. The share for Fridays is also lower now, so the BBC's excuse of "fewer people watching TV at that time" no longer applies.
And the woman who caused this situation has just jumped to Channel 4. Nice one! |

Can't anyone in the BBC persuade Chris Evans to take Friday mornings off so he can work on getting his TV audience figures better
I heard he was rather up for that idea! |

Given that I avoid Friday's The One Show I'm in favour of that idea. At least I can then listen to 20% of the week's Radio 2 Breakfast Show! |

Oh please let that be true. Something that will take up all of his time, so that he has to leave his radio commitments behind him. Why not give him his own channel, even better as he has his own production company. They could run repeats of the sporting challenge and he could host his own version of "Its a knockout" with Sarah Ferguson he would be fantastic and she needs the money!l |

BBC bosses really have screwed up The One Show terribly - all because they had the stupidity and arrogance to drop Evans into Fridays without telling the resident hosts (who then upped and left). They're idiots who couldn't run a proverbial drinking session in premises where decent beer is brewed.
I predict that, before long, Evans will be co-presenting permanently. You wait. Watch this space.
It will then become yet another BBC broadcast to avoid.
Edit: Maybe not. He's just signed a deal to front a Channel 4 show. |

Poor old Manford. Obviously, he's been a bit silly but the girls aren't entirely blameless - from what one of them said in the paper the other week, she was the stalker. She seemed to have sent him loads of messages (as some people do on Twitter) and he replied once or twice with some flirty comments.
It's a shame, because he was great on Twitter but the problem with the network is some followers take everything a lot more seriously than they should, and think they're closer to the stars than they really are. |

On The One Show last night, Chris Evans told Reeves & Mortimer that Shooting Stars got 3.9m viewers on Monday night. They looked very surprised - rightly so, as it only got 1.2m viewers.
3.9m is, in fact, the average rating for Evans' appearances on The One Show. He obviously thinks it's good (and, again, shows how he's thinking of himself all the time). |

I quite like The One Show, but only on Mondays to Thursdays inclusive. While Matt Baker finds it easy working with co-host Alex wotsername, the same cannot be said of *****, who dominates discussion at every opportunity. |

The One Show tomorrow (27 April) will have a feature on the late Ronnie Hazlehurst who composed and arranged many well-known TV theme tunes.
Chris Dean will be helping to tell his story with The Syd Lawrence Orchestra and several musicians who worked with Hazlehurst over the years taking part.
Should be good! |

I watched the programme in spite of the manic Evans. The live band in the studio comprised seven musicians most of whom had played for Ronnie Hazlehurst over the years. They played various signature tunes for people to identify and there was a nice mini biography of Hazlehurst including an interview with him the year before he died about three years ago. |
