I struggle to find the words to describe the prospect of waking-up to Vanessa Feltz, but perhaps it is similar to the realisation a shark considers the surfboard you're astride to be a tasty prospect.

In my defence, the subject is not in the title of the other thread and I'm not psychic.

We need a new sub-editor. This wouldn't happen on a proper newspaper - or even The Mail for that matter!!! Smile

I don't know, I expect she's a quite nice warm bunny to wake-up with.

"Where are your hands?"
"Between two pillows"
"Those aren't pillows!"
"arrrrggggh"
" did you see the Bear's game last week?"
" Yeah, one hell of a game"

Which film?

I won't be catching her show at all, as I've decided to have a lie-in until 7 now and my radio alarm is tuned to Classic FM, as I don't appreciate being yelled at at that time in the morning.

I like the way everyone is so prejudiced that they've made their minds up before hearing the programme.

This will be the first time Vanessa Feltz has hosted a light entertainment music show. I don't expect it will sound much like the Dawn Patrol, but it's not going to be Phone-in/Trisha/Gastric Band Surgery Live either.

Give it a chance (and I don't mean just the first half hour of the first show).

When you say "covers", do you mean in a smothering sense? Helen would not be pleased.

Ok, let's put it another way. I don't want Ms. Feltz in my ear first thing in the morning because I don't like the sound of her voice. It's radio, after all. It's for much the same reason that I don't listen to Awful Evans.

There's lots of choice out there so I'm happy to avail myself of it.

That's fair enough, and interesting. It's the voice not the personality.

With all the technical wizardry at your disposal I'm surprised you haven't got something that would alter it to a tone more to your liking

Smile

A switch!? How very disappointing. Smile I would have thought that with all your technical wizardry, Colin, you would be able live stream a future breakfast show to be broadcast from Mars, downloaded through a mobile satellite router, digitised, quantised, translated to English and played on your nano-I-phone at the same time as watching the latest episode of Dr Who, in German, on a 3” screen, whist standing on one leg and drinking a pint of a well known blackcurrant juice based drink.

I think the news that Vanessa Feltz has got this gig is really disappointing.

Lynn Parsons or Richard Allinson should have got it instead.

Oh well I'll switch over to Smooth instead.

I'm listening to less and less to Radio 2 these days. I can't be the only one I'm sure.

The trouble with Allinson is that he is so desperately dull, so utterly lacking in personality. At least Gingergob for all his faults has a personality.
I also think Allinson's a bit thick: this morning at 5 he said we're now in day 2 of the first Test. Er, no, it was still the first day.

Substitute the words "inflated ego" for "personality", I suggest.

I'd rather listen to "desperately dull" Allinson at 6.30am any day if it came to a simple choice between him and The Gob, I have to say.

True, but at least I find their voices bearable first thing in the morning!

I'm with you Angela.

Richard should have a regular weekday show on Radio 2-at the expense of bore Bruce or Steve Wright.

Indeed I also like/enjoy listening into Zoe and Dermot but I think I'm in a majority of 1 on this board regarding these guys!

I think you are Mark but I definitely agree with you about LP and RA
Its absolutely tragic that we're stuck with the awful Feltz woman

I'll carry on listening to Smooth just like I do now

Seems we aren't the only ones not be happy about her appointment.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2010/11/26/lowers-the-twon-115875-22741297/

I don't like the woman on TV so there is very little chance that I'll like her on radio so will use the off switch when she is on. I don't like female broadcasters much in general either.

I'm reminded of Dr Johnson's famous quote about women speaking in public
""Sir, a woman's preaching is like a dog's walking on his hind legs. It is not done well; but you are surprised to find it done at all."

But when the tone is lowered, it's lovely. Or it can be.

I can understand a few of the DJs being a bit miffed, especially those who have worked tirelessly for many years waiting for a better slot, indeed, had been promised a better slot when the time came, by the previous management but I don’t understand Jezza being miffed- he takes a lot of time off to do all sorts of other stuff, it’s important to keep your priorities in order, if it looks like you’re more interested in doing other things, then you can’t blame the management for getting prepared for your departure. Think on.

I doubt he's thinking or getting concerned about his departure but it's only natural to hope they'd put someone decent on your show whilst you are away.

I think it's better to have different people sitting in rather than just one.

There is a claim in at least one of the women's weeklies this week that she has been signed up by Channel Five to present a mid-morning show, in competition with ITV's Good Morning.

She's apparently borassic after paying for the gastric band operation. With all the juggling and dashing about between studios she's going to have to do she might not have needed it.

Its yet another example of certain favoured people being given more work than they can properly cope with whilst other more competent presenters are either ignored of gradually eased out

It seems its down to whether your face fits or in Vanessa's case perhaps we're talking backsides rather than faces Sad
