Not sure what this will turn out to be but I've set the Sky box and series record as 9.15am is not my normal TV viewing hour Wink

Maybe worth saving for when there's nothing better on.

Recorded the whole series and have watched 2.

First one about Liverpool was good, Lulu was bearable but she was 'there' at the time so her comments rang true. Tarby was great! He compered the Gerry and the Pacemakers tour that I saw in 64 (still at school at the time!) and he was just so funny. Loads of very early Beatles footage. Worth checking out on iPlayer for the nostalgia alone!

Tuesday - interesting about the immigration caps that happened in I think 62. Too young to know or remember anything about them but interesting recent history.

Have 3 more to watch but they are the kind of thing you can dip in and out of so glad I recorded them.

Glad I recorded these. It was nice to be reminded of things that I had long forgotten! I think it deserves a better viewing slot, who watches television at 9.15 am?

I watched these over the weekend and found them thoroughly enjoyable viewing. I wonder if there will be a similar series about the 1970s. If so, I'd like it on at a more watchable time! I'd be better able to remember the 70s as I was that much older.

I watched the one with Zandra Rhodes tonight and the woman from Newcastle. Later on they showed the mens outfitter's shop called Marcus Price which was the place to go I'd say until well into the 70s. A friend of mine had a Saturday job there but she wasn't on the photos that they showed of the staff, I did recognise one of the guys though!

I really hope these programmes get repeated

I'm sure they would get good viewing figures in an early evening slot

They're bound to. The broadcasters get maximum return on all their programme investments these days - especially the low-budget daytime stuff which can be re-gurgitated time and again.

I've only managed to watch a couple of these up to know ....Tuesday's edition didn't record....they really are a trip down memory lane. I was a little taken aback when Harold Wilson's son said he would be spending the holidays with his mother..I looked her up and she is 94!

Alan Freeman called Lulu "Little Miss Dynamite" but I don't remember her being called that....that was Brenda Lee as far as I recall...and did lads really keep a comb up their sleeves, at all times?..... Very Happy

I have also recorded them and have watched the first 3. The one with Zandra was especially good seeing all about the fashions etc. Reminded me of being a very young child being scared by mods and rockers fighting on the beach - can't quite remember where. Clacton perhaps. Also interesting to show my son the funeral of Sir Winston who he has just been studying at school.

One other thing - what has Lulu done to her face? Botox I assume. How can these celebs possibly think they look better with plastic faces?

For anyone who hasn't yet watched their recordings please be prepared for the 4th one which features the Aberfan disaster.

I wasn't prepared and found the young lady's story heartbreaking, as indeed the whole disaster was. I remember it happening but not which year.

I remember having a minutes silence at school in late 1966, one of those things you can't forget. Truly heartbreaking, all those schoolchildren just wiped out.

Caught up with the last 2 episodes.

I too remember the Aberfan disaster, the interview was indeed very moving.

Enjoyed John Craven's memories of Michael Caine during the filming of Get Carter. Personal family memories of that.

I enjoyed all the films, a lovely trip down memory lane. Hope it's repeated.

I caught up with that one in the series the other day..truly heartbreaking ..the woman who was interviewed was upset about losing her shoes thinking her Mum was going to be annoyed.

There was a drama made about this a few years ago .....did anybody see it?
