Hello all, to the new people on this forum and old hands from Radio 2 MB's!
A bit about myself - I live in Newcastle Upon Tyne, I'm a trainer. I first got into radio2 years ago when Terry Wogan was doing his first sting of morning shows then gravitated to Steve Wright (was better in the old days to todays ramblings!)
Really into Richard Allinson, I think he's the best DJ on radio 2 / Oxford/ BFBS.
I'm 37 and my tastes range from ELO to Bowie to Billy Joel, even a bit of Jean Michelle jarre - so quite eclectic then!
I don't follow current chart music so much - most is manufactured twaddle!
Guess that's why I like Radio 2 - mix of old and modern.
Radio 2 has also gotten me into music I've never heard before. Radio 2 and Rich Allinson got me into Boz Skaggs and Steely Dan.
Cheers |

Hello from a fellow Geordie - seems we've got similar tastes (have a look at my intro on the board for a random selection from my CD shelves).
RA got me started with Boz Scaggs and others too on his Saturday afternoon show - great stuff.

hello, Little Gypsie Girl and Cherskiy, thanks for the messages.
Cherskiy - that's great! a fellow Geordie - and one that likes RA too!!
I'm going to miss his Oxford show this morning as I'm at work today, but I'll listen again tonight.
That's great that you got into BOz Skaggs shrough his show too - I think this is what R2 does best - introduce it's audience to new acts / music you may never have listened to before.
In the case of Boz, Rich played three of best from 'Silk Degrees' and i bought the album on the strenght of that - it's great.
Actually, Stuart marconi used to to that with 'the Critical list' - I got into musin never heard of - like Aimee Man.
Gypsie - you can tag whatever messages you want on to mine!
See you folks round the boards. |

There seem to be plenty of us out here in radio-land. Just a pity the suits don't recognise this.

That would be exactly the same experience I had - and similar ones on other weeks with "Three of the Best From...." (also the reason why I listen to Bob Harris - which is what I'm doing now via "Listen Again")

Ah, Aimee Mann, who once said in an interview that she *does* write happy songs, but she doesn't think that they sit well with the rest of the tracks on her albums so she pulls them(!) - "Lost in Space" is part of my present in-car CD collection, with "Bachelor No.2" and "The Forgotten Arm" on my Amazon wish list!
Great stuff....
