Dame Shirley Bassey will perform at this year's Glastonbury Festival, organiser Michael Eavis has said.

Dame Shirley, 70, who enjoyed huge chart success in the 1950s, '60s and '70s and sang James Bond theme tunes like Goldfinger, will appear on Sunday.

======================
So does this mean that Glastonbury is now officially for the over 50's?

Given the number or Range Rovers and Mercs that enter the site and the posh BBQ gear that comes out at camp, I'd say it was the case a long time ago.

What's very funny is the way the over 50s go out of their to dress "cool".

I'm thinking of going this year. I'll show 'em who's cool!

Hey, I'm over 50!

I dress the same as I've done for at least 35 years (jeans, t-shirts, leather jacket, boots) and I've always looked cool.

Mind you, I stopped going to Glastonbury when it became too crowded in 1997. I had seen Johnny Cash, Tom Jones and Rolf Harris there in preceding years - so the 'Shirley Bassey Syndrome' is nothing new!

The hair's 'lighter' and longer, and I don't have such prominent sideburns these days. But my specs are similar (adapted Raybans with photochromic lenses). So, all-in-all, Ray and I could be brothers (bearing in mind that's a photo of him taken 30+ years ago!).
