|
|
BBC bosses apologised last night after a radio presenter said Faye Turney would be to blame if she were decapitated.
Tony Butler, of BBC West Midlands, said women should not be in war zones. He then referred to decapitation, saying "it would serve her right" for being in Iraq.
After furious complaints, the BBC said: "Tony is known for his outspoken views but these were inappropriate. We apologise."

His name rings a bell- isn't he one of those jocks that think it's clever to be rude and insensitive... and as a result, are continually seeking new employers?? _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

He's one of those people who've been on local radio almost since it was first thought of, originally on BRMB, I believe, as sports anchor and phone-in host cum wind-up merchant - Jasper Carrott used to do a long monologue about him. _________________ Ron |

Ah, thanks Ron...
that's where I've heard about him before. That and the occassional times he pops up in news bulletins that say he's been fired again _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

the classic Carrott skit.
Tony Butler : What are Andy Grays ( shows how old this is! ) initials?
Caller: Er is it 1973 Tone?
Tony Butler : Yeah you're the nearest _________________ "Timpani!, Timpani!, They've all got it Timpani!"- All drummers know the pain of skin trouble. |

Hey PJ. long time no speak!
Yeah, good old Butler! Left BRMB after that regretable incident with the wheel chair.
What about the Villa Tone?
What about them?
Thanks Tone _________________ "Timpani!, Timpani!, They've all got it Timpani!"- All drummers know the pain of skin trouble. |

Every one a classic Seymour!
Jasper Carrott got a lot of mileage out of Tony Butler... fortunately for us!
You finally defected to the rebel board then bud... what made you come over?

I got fed up with the old board when everybody seemed to vanish! Went on every couple of weeks.
Finally spotted a link from SanteFefan before it got modded and voila! ( thats French, that is ) _________________ "Timpani!, Timpani!, They've all got it Timpani!"- All drummers know the pain of skin trouble. |

It's good to see you on here. I think the whole "modding" thing was what caused most to leave.

The final straw for me was being modded for going "off topic" on the Flip side board even though the description of the board says "....and other nonsense"
Well you know me and nonsense mate
How much did you pay for this licence?
Er £130 and £8 for the fruit bat _________________ "Timpani!, Timpani!, They've all got it Timpani!"- All drummers know the pain of skin trouble. |

Ah the dreaded "off-topic" the bane of many on the old BBC board.

my quote from R2MB
"Finally given up on being modded for going "off topic" Gone to R2OK! where they know how to run a board and they are not trigger happy with moderation."
Hosts reply
"Message 6 - posted by Sian - Radio 2 (U7630819) , Yesterday
Hiya, This is off-topic so I'm closing it! Cheers, Sian"
I'd already left!! _________________ "Timpani!, Timpani!, They've all got it Timpani!"- All drummers know the pain of skin trouble. |

Hi ernie, I think this guy Butler should be made to apologise to the family of Fay Turney personally. This young lady has all of my respect and desrves, along with the other 14 captives, the understanding and support of us all. As a member of the British Military, she has no control on where she is sent to serve her country, which she is doing and I am very grateful and proud of her and all our other young men and women serving anywhere in the 4 corners of the world. Mr Butler should never again be allowed to present any radio/TV shows, in the UK, IMHO.

Its just Butlers way of getting a few column inches.
Taking a few tips from the cheeky girls perhaps?
I thought they really had been shot.
Imagine my distress on hearing that they hadn't _________________ "Timpani!, Timpani!, They've all got it Timpani!"- All drummers know the pain of skin trouble. |

Bumped in Butler one night, I had gone to a pub for a drink with friends and he was there hosting a sports quiz or something, Anyway I was waiting to be served and Butler walked past behind the bar, he looked up at me and because I didn't say "Hiya Tone 'ow yer gooin" and just looked at him he swore and walked off.
Nice man - NOT |
