On hearing of the sad news today of the death of former Radio 2 Controller Sir David Hatch (a lovely man, by the way), I checked his Wikipedia entry and found that it has already been updated.

Sad news. I remember him well as the sort of straight man/announcer on I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again, a great favourite of mine circa 1966/70.

Everything I've heard about David Hatch suggests he was a thoroughly brilliant bloke, and exactly the kind of person the BBC should have more of (and exactly the kind of person who wouldn't last ten minutes in the Beeb of Birt and beyond, unfortunately)
Let's not forget he was the man who persuaded Frances Line to bring Wogan back to Radio 2, a move which effectively kickstarted the success it currently enjoys (it wasn't all Jim Moir, you know!) _________________ "....you're wearing a plywood bow tie with Dundee United on it?" |

Terry mentioned David Hatch's passing this morning, he sounded slightly emotional about it, apparently they were good freinds.
A very sad loss R.I.P David |
