The death of George Melly has just been announced.

I wasn't a fan, but he was amusing, in small doses, and some of his more trad jazz performances (and his theme song to A Bit Of A Do) were memorable.
Another giant of the music world to be missed. _________________ Ron

A very sad day. Like RockitRon I wouldn't have said that I was a huge fan of George Melly's music but I derived great pleasure from his books over several decades. And I loved the contradiction between his seemingly wild life and cultured speaking voice.
A great miss. My sympathy to his family.
