On many other stations their Drivetime show starts earlier -typically 4pm.
Should the Drivetime Show on Radio 2 start earlier-I think it should imo.
Would that mean 1 hour less of Steve Wright and 1 hour more of Chris Evans during the afternoon/early evening each day or should the whole schedule of daytime shows be revamped. |

Personally I am often still driving home after 7pm. Hence my horror at folk music being scheduled at that unfortunate hour. The blues on Monday is tough as well sometimes. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I'm quite happy for the slot to remain the same. It's just the current presenter that's the problem! |

Lets just change both presenters first, then worry about the times afterwards. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Yeah, same here. The "drivetime" slot is fine as it is, they just need something less crunching at 7pm. |

Even for those that like them? I think not, try not listening you might find you won't hear the presenters you don't like. |

Funny, but that's exactly what I do. I'd much rather be able to listen to a presenter I do like (and who doesn't treat me like a teenage Smash Hits reader) in the given slot, of course. |

That's what I'm saying, there are presenters I like and an equal number I don't but that's life. I don't go asking for certain presenters to be sacked, put out to grass, pensioned off, etc just because they are not my taste. |

Because I'd very much like to be able to listen at that time. Unfortunately, the juvenile, verging on patronising, output from the current grossly overpaid presenter prevents this. |

CD? That's a bit old tech, isn't it? Can I therefore have a rebate on the money I give to Evans? |

Regardless of who the presenter/DJ is, I don't think a "drivetime" show should start at 4pm, simply because there aren't that many people driving home at that time (at least I assume that's why it's called drivetime, maybe there is another meaning which hasn't occurred to me - and yes I know SOME people will be driving but not the majority) |

the evening rush is now quite staggered from about 4pm to 7.30ish. However whether we need a 4 hour drivetime show is another matter. I would be quite happy with what currently exists, except for a couple of the new 7pm music shows which I think are a bit too heavy for that hour. Des Carrington is fine, Bob Harris also excellent. The Blues & Folk shows should be on a bit later at either 8pm or 9pm IMO. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

What if you're self-employed and work at home anyhow? That said, I guess that having access to hundreds of much better online options to Evans' frankly naff drivetime offering is an advantage in not having to do the daily commute! |

Fred..i listen most of the day to an internet station
1.FM (ONE DOT FM)
They have channels for every decade.
Just choose the one you want.
No chat
No ads
No traffic
No waffle
Just non stop music from whayever decade you desire.
You do tend to get a few repeats but because it is American you get hits from there which never made it over here.

The funny things, that's exactly what I do do. I just despair that one day I might have to give up on Radio 2 altogether just as I had to with Radio 1 in the early 1990s. Especially as there's no natural successor to go to this time! I suppose I'm greatful that I can at least listen in the afternoon for a bit longer this week. Shame I won't be able to next week though. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I'd rather play a 78rpm that listen to Evans. Not all 78's are scratchy Vera Lynn's or George Formby's, I've got Django Reinhardt, Bix Beiderbecke, Al Bowlly, Billie Holiday, Yehudi Menuhin, Elvis and Caruso ! |

My dad has quite a lot of Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappeli, etc, on 78rpm. Last year I transferred some of these to digital for him - and because some of them sounded like he'd scraped a chisel across them in places I had to edit out the "cracks" and tidy up the audio before dumping them to CD for him. Good fun. |

Why does every radio station have to sound the same? I mean normal Monday to Friday workers kick out about 5ish not 4ish. |

A lot of early moring shift workers finish at 2.00pm - so maybe drive time should start then. Or what about night-shift workers? We could could rename "Breakfast" as "Drivetime".
Or, maybe with work patterns having changed so much we should do away with the Drivetime tag altogether - and just call the 5.00pm Radio 2 offering "that programme that's presented by the annoying and highly avoidable bloke with the infuriating voice and childish presentation style"!! |

It's actually called the Chris Evans show. People are refering it to the Drivetime show and Wogans show too the breakfast show, well it will be called the breakfast show with Johnnie covering it for the next two weeks. |

Generically, in radio broadcasting, it's referred to as "Drivetime" - it's probably a contractual condition by Evans' agent that it was called "The Chris Evans Show". Something to do with ego and a £ half-million pay cheque, perhaps? |

Keep Evans where he is. As someone who listens to Radio 4 at 5.00 he's in a spot I wouldn't listen to anyway _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. |
