A gigantic wasp was flying around in my living room just now! I've just flitted it and ran upstairs! I screamed like a girl when I saw it! I have got a phobia of wasps!

There was one sitting on my car roof the other morning when I left for work. I don't have a phobia - but I was surprised.
Clearly another effect of the change in our weather patterns - they've usually all died off by now. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I have a thing about wasps as well. They're the one reason I don't like picnics or eating outside in late summer, since one will always seek me out.
I think the cold usually kills them off but a few usually survive, because, come the spring you quite often get one or two big ones flying in, having been woken up by the warmer sunshine. I'm afraid I take no prisoners - they get well and truly nuked. _________________ Ron |

Just as well you weren't at our friend's in Texas a month ago.
There were loads of them swarming round the chimney so ' a man' was called out. After some stuff was applied several thousand (dead) dropped down into a bucket. They were about twice the size of the ones we see over here, but as they say everything is big in Texas!

Well, I have just taken a look the wasp (I threw a towel on top of it last night when it fell to the floor). It's huge! Maybe it is from Texas?!
It might have been a Queen wasp. Or a hornet! |

Shame on you for killing the creature... it more than likely wouldn't have harmed you unless provoked.
I have a policy not to kill anything by choice. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I'm sorry, but there is no way I could sit in the same room as a wasp flying around! They can sting whether provoked or unprovoked! |

Well, serves them right! Bloody pests they are!
My mother always told me when I was younger that every time I killed a wasp, the other wasps would know and would come after me!
I believed her! |
