Having just returned from Dallas I have thinking about how do folk normally entertain themselves during the flight.

Some people sleep, read, watch in the in flight movies, listen to the in flight music stations, listen to their own iPod etc.

I usually read and listen to the various in flight radio entertaiment-on BA some 16 or so radio stations covering different music genres whilst on Quantas you get CD's of famous stars as an option.

How do you like to pass the time while flying.

all of the above Laughing , apart from the ipod; which I don't have.
I'm one of those who hovers at the back of the plane looking out of those little windows at the vast expanse of frozen tundra below (if going to CA) and wondering what all those long straight lines are and - who set them out!
If I could afford it, I'd fly first class and sleep all the way there.

All of the ones you mentioned, although I do like looking out the window if passing over interesting parts of the world such as the Northern Canada tundra or Maine.

I do three things, 1. look out of the window to try and spot places of interest - emergency landing areas etc. 2. Keep a very close eye on anyone who looks a bit iffy. 3. Imagine which the other passengers would be of any use if we crashed on a remote island.

How was Dallas? Still in Texas?

Hi Rachel-Dallas was very hot-105 most days. I was there 10 days and the temperature never went below 100 any day.

I went to a place called the Gaylord-rather unfortunate name but a most amazing resort/convention centre-the whole place is built under glass-its absolutely massive. It even had an indoor fireworks display one night.

I visited the Kennedy musuem in downtown Dallas last Saturday-very interesting etc.

Good to be back and to hear RA on the radio-couldn't find any good radio programmes to listen to whilst I was away-too much Country and Western for my liking.

Hi Mark,

We have expat friends living in Southlake/Grapevine which is right by the airport. They have spoken of the Gaylord centre a few times.

Those temps are pretty normal for the whole of the summer. They've just been over here, staying with us and they brought their 'fall' clothes with them!

I love the area round there!

Do most of the same to pass the time. In pre 9/11 days I used to do cross stitch or tapestry but of course that's verboten now.

I have a number of hand held games consoles such as the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP.

I find that the hours just disappear playing them and when my eyes get tired from staring at the screens I just fall asleep!

I hate long haul flights, I can't sleep usually and if I do I end up having nightmares, can be a bit embarrasing Embarassed
I usually take a book to read or look out of the window and marvel about how lovley and peaceful the world looks from up there.

Best one I did was to Malaysia Mark.

Guess who was doing the radio in-flight entertainment on Emirates?

I dozed off with Richard talking in my ears. Bliss.....
