Thought I'd mention that I've just taken delivery of Gordon Thompson's book Please Please Me--Sixties British Pop Inside Out.

It's a belated 60th birthday present and I didn't think it was coming out till December but Amazon are clearly on the ball.

It could be a long read, as it's written in essay style, with just a few photographs, but eventually I hope to get round to writing an assessment here and perhaps also on the Amazon website.
