There's some houses near me with their decorations up! Maybe it's their way of beating recession blues. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Lovely day here but more like January than October.
How long is this cold snap likely to last?

Several of our local pubs had small Xmas trees (no lights) on tables in their foyer in October - to advertise the 'bargain' Christmas lunches that will be available; book now!
Not such a bargain. Normal two course lunches are usually about £10, but the Xmas lunches are 3-course for £20. Staff on double time I expect. |

I blame global warming for it. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

It does come as a shock after all the mild winters we've had, and because of the sudden sharp drop in temperature from last week, but it's not that unusual. Three years ago about this time we visited my wife's aunt in Worcs and the daytime journey was made in damp and freezing fog, with the car's thermometer reading -1C; twenty years ago we went to the christening of goddaughter at Tunbridge Wells on Oct 19th and it snowed then. _________________ Ron |

You in Dingwall or thereabouts? I have relatives there. Always nice to see the white stuff up on Wyvis, even when I get dragged up Fyrish in the snow.... _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”
