I wouldn't call myself an out-and-out fan but Mrs W managed without too much difficulty to persuade me to go to the first roadshow of the season at Newcastle Arena last night.

If for any reason you really can't stand the TV version, then this wouldn't be for you.

But, given that it was their first show out of 45 or so nationwide, I thought they had ironed out any gremlins really well. And it made a really excellent evening's entertainment. There wasn't a poor performance to be seen and the judges all did the business, what with Craig being insultingly blunt and a few calls of SEVEN from Len.

We privately hoped that local lass Jill Halfpenny would win but she came runner-up, conceding the crown to Rachel, whose surname we can't remember.

This show could well soon be coming to a venue near you. If it's your bag, don't hesitate.

Ian.

It's Rachel Stevens Ian..
I can well believe it, I'm a big fan of the TV show and would love to see the roadshow version but I don't think there's a date anywhere near us..
I didn't think good old Len was taking part in the roadshow!
Who compere's the show? not Bruce??.

Why has the BBC, or does someone else own the rights, decended to this level ?

Why don't they stick to (or maybe it should be go back to) making good programmes and forget all the dumbed down / celeb stuff ? Rolling Eyes

Sorry, I disagree. I know there are a lot of very similar shows on now but feel that this is one of the best.

Yes, Len (SEVEN!) was definitely there on Friday.

You can tell that we didn't buy a programme at £10, as I can't remember the name of the presenter--Kate Thornton, perhaps?
