Very interesting discussion. As a practising Christian I rarely agree with Susan Blakemore but for once I thought she was right in many respects this time. The lady in question is employed as a nurse, not a chaplain, and should stick to professional matters. If she wants to pray for her patients privately, that's fine, but it's unreasonable to pressure patients who may or may not share her beliefs. Perhaps the challenge to her is to show Christian love in a more practical way. But why do I get the feeling that there's more to this story than is being reported?

What do others, of all faiths or none, think about this?

I thought nurse just asked the patient if she would like her to pray for her, I would think she was just being kind rather than trying to force her religion on her.
Personally I would have appreciated the thought, I would have said no as I am a atheist but thats by the by.

I don't know why she had to ask. Couldn't she just do it, if she thought it was necessary, and not put the patient on the spot?
